I just rented one of these in Anchorage and drove it to Hatcher Pass, Talkeetna and finally Denali National Park. I stayed in a Cabin just past Healy and the drive up the mountain to get there was very steep and rugged and required a 4x4. This Outback made it up and down that mountain several times with no issues whatsoever. I put about 800 miles on it in 3 days and had a blast!

@Boosted95SVT2 жыл бұрын
@@tj6111 LP is like $700. It’s a spacer lift made from stainless steel. The Ironman kit is a full shock and spring combo so it’s more like a proper lift which is why it’s a lower lift on the Wilderness. It’s a 2” lift for a regular OB but since the OBW is like 0.8” higher, you end up with about 1.2” lift. The end result is 10.7” of ground clearance on stock size tires. You’ll get another 0.5” going to 245-65-17 tires

hi there so! I have watch your videos and I like how you upgraded the tires on your subaru O.B. W. than those crapy factory Geolanders they put on them. However putting on those BF GOODRICH A/T is not any better choose cuz there are a limted in the mud/loose sands/soft dirt. Also you did a 2" lift on it so far that look like is the doing great job. My suggestion is try a differant rim/ tires setup. try using a 15"x10x50 rims with a Discoverer STT Pro or a FALKEN WILDPEAK M/T. sense you still using the stock wheel/rim that came with it. You can,t realy air down those 17" rims to do a better offroading without poping the rim bead or bending the rims. Watch a SUZUKI JIMMY runnin B.F. GOODRICH KM3 on 15"x10x50 30" tires and 2" lift did evey thing you did but could much harder Terrain as you did. So if you do try to do those upgrade setups I bet you susbaru will handle alot more better doing those offroad trails you made your videos with.

Nice video, and well-done, Subie! An odd question: why do you have crossbars over the factory ones? I'm looking at one day trading off my old Forester and updating, (sigh, no turbo Forester) and I know the Outback HAS factory bars on the roof, so why install permanent ones over them? It adds cost and height, so I just don't get it.
@Stevenseagull6663 жыл бұрын
Only on wilderness comes with roof rail but beefed up to carry more static load which was 700lb approx but it sacrificed the convertible crossbar feature
@rockymountainjazzfan18223 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Subie will do some pretty amazing stuff for an AWD CUV, but, from a half-century plus of 4-wheeling experience, I can say with certainty that they won't hold together if the vehicle gets a regular diet of this kind of use. Aside from the approach angle, the BIGGEST deficiency of all the Subarus is the CVT. CVT transmissions will just not hold up in frequent off-road use. No matter how they are "tweaked," the basic design of a CVT makes it unsuitable for any more than occasional off-road use. If one plans to use a vehicle for regular trail use, just purchase a good 4WD vehicle designed to be used for that purpose. A 4WD will use more fuel, but it will still be running strong long after the Subie is either being rebuilt or junked.
