I just rented one of these in Anchorage and drove it to Hatcher Pass, Talkeetna and finally Denali National Park. I stayed in a Cabin just past Healy and the drive up the mountain to get there was very steep and rugged and required a 4x4. This Outback made it up and down that mountain several times with no issues whatsoever. I put about 800 miles on it in 3 days and had a blast!

Well done. Other reviewers have the drivers view from inside of the vehicle which tells you nothing on what's going on outside. Or they have a distance view from a drone which doesn't tell you what's going on either. Nice that you show good shots of the terrain, what the wheels are doing and a description of the situation.

@@tj6111 LP is like $700. It’s a spacer lift made from stainless steel. The Ironman kit is a full shock and spring combo so it’s more like a proper lift which is why it’s a lower lift on the Wilderness. It’s a 2” lift for a regular OB but since the OBW is like 0.8” higher, you end up with about 1.2” lift. The end result is 10.7” of ground clearance on stock size tires. You’ll get another 0.5” going to 245-65-17 tires

By the way here is some good information for you that I have verified with the General Manger and the Service Manager Carson City Nv. I asked the General Manger about the 10 Year WARRANTY on the transmission, his reply was , what??. He called the Service Manager on speaker phone so I could listen, he asked him if the Transmission has a 10 year Warranty on it ? The Service Manager checked on his computer and replied Yes it does have a 10 Year Warranty. Hope you don't get stuck AAA would have fun pulling you out.

I take my dark gray Outback Wilderness down the gravel lane to my cottage through a couple of shallow puddles - I wouldn't even call them mud - and the sides are all splashed and there's five pounds of crud stuck on each plastic wheel well protector. Here you've got a white car going through way worse stuff than I'd ever touch and there's barely a fleck of dirt on it! Must be that extra lift...

hi there so! I have watch your videos and I like how you upgraded the tires on your subaru O.B. W. than those crapy factory Geolanders they put on them. However putting on those BF GOODRICH A/T is not any better choose cuz there are a limted in the mud/loose sands/soft dirt. Also you did a 2" lift on it so far that look like is the doing great job. My suggestion is try a differant rim/ tires setup. try using a 15"x10x50 rims with a Discoverer STT Pro or a FALKEN WILDPEAK M/T. sense you still using the stock wheel/rim that came with it. You can,t realy air down those 17" rims to do a better offroading without poping the rim bead or bending the rims. Watch a SUZUKI JIMMY runnin B.F. GOODRICH KM3 on 15"x10x50 30" tires and 2" lift did evey thing you did but could much harder Terrain as you did. So if you do try to do those upgrade setups I bet you susbaru will handle alot more better doing those offroad trails you made your videos with.

Better to need it and not have it than need it and not have it. Yes, the Subie will do some pretty amazing stuff for an AWD CUV, but, from a half-century plus of 4-wheeling experience, I can say with certainty that they won't hold together if the vehicle gets a regular diet of this kind of use. Aside from the approach angle, the BIGGEST deficiency of all the Subarus is the CVT. CVT transmissions will just not hold up in frequent off-road use. No matter how they are "tweaked," the basic design of a CVT makes it unsuitable for any more than occasional off-road use. If one plans to use a vehicle for regular trail use, just purchase a good 4WD vehicle designed to be used for that purpose. A 4WD will use more fuel, but it will still be running strong long after the Subie is either being rebuilt or junked.

I was skeptical of them until I put 150,000 miles on one in a 2014 crosstrek. Towed a 8x10 box trailer 5000 miles to Canada and back. Tows my boats. I have a 2021 ascent and will be changing the rims and tires to the wilderness set. Any idea if those will fit? Service department have NO clue
