The Subaru Outback has a mission: off-road domination and on the road! She's the most capable Outback ever! It is an authentic adventure vehicle, taken to a whole new level, with robust skills and supreme versatility. The Outback Wilderness is equipped with a Subaru Turbo Boxer engine ensuring robust power, smooth torque, and superior towing capacity. It has a higher ground clearance to conquer rugged terrain and formidable obstacles. The Outback uses Subaru symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive with dual-mode X-MODE and new all-terrain tires for superior grip, whatever the road or weather conditions. It has a strong protective siding on the outside and aluminum and steel skid plates under the vehicle adding to the strength. Need space? The Outback has massive cargo space for all your adventure gear, accessible through a hands-free, wide tailgate with LED lighting. Need more space? Here you will find roof rails offering increased static load capacity, allowing you to carry heavier equipment no matter what your outings in the great outdoors.
Here is our review of the Subaru Outback and find out why it's the wagon that dominates off-road, including many SUVs!

@@michaeljoos9753 it is remarkable off road. All the complaints people have of the cladding - it makes you happy to have it when you are getting rocks kicked up all around you on these trails! I recommend it. Only annoying thing is the adaptive cruise control and safety features can be cumbersome and cause the drive to feel janky. A lot of unnecessary brake slamming. We installed a 1” lift on our Subie giving it 9.7” of ground clearance. We also added a K&N intake and a Borla exhaust giving our Subaru a considerable increase in hp, torque and mpg. It also has a “throaty” tone. Next will be an oil and tranny cooler. To make sure the CVT lasts forever, change the fluid every 30K miles, instead of the recommended 60K miles
@JeffSpehar-ov1cn

A K&N air filter and borla exhaust will only add a few HP not a considerable amount. Follow the manufacturer recommendations on changing fluids.
@Doc1855
@Doc1855 10 ай бұрын
@@JeffSpehar-ov1cn Subaru says to never change the CVT fluid because it’s a “lifetime”, but I’m old school. Subaru also says to change the oil every 6K miles, but I choose to do it every 4K miles. I also change the front and rear differential, transfer case every 30K miles. As much as we enjoy our Subaru, it was our first Subie and it will be our last. We’ve been driving Toyota’s for 40+ years and will go back to Toyota ASAP. They’re simply more durable and less expensive to maintain, and the CVT is a Horrible transmission.

Subaru is an ok vehicle if you plan to sell it before it hits 100k! Afterwards you run the risk of head gasket issues and timing belt problems. Both very expensive to repair! If you doubt my input google a diagram of the timing belt on the 2.5 liter outback engine, the timing belt is VERY long compared to other internal combustion engines and that is not with conducive with a long lasting engine. @@edwardl.990I hate to tell you, but the head gasket problem was in the 90s and has been fixed since the early 2000s. 4runners are great reliable vehicles but they also use an engine from the 90s that reliably consumes gas at an alarming rate and has the interior of a 2009 truck and a body style that hasn’t changed since 2010. Also the outback uses a turbo charged 2.4 L.

I just bought myfully loaded black/black Wilderness about 2 weeks ago. Upgraded from a 2020 Forester. Its honestly one of the best damn cars Ive ever owned. The sound system is lacking a bit, no cooled seats, the cameras are grainy, and Android Auto only takes up half of the screen. Otherwise, it's perfect. Its a real head-turner and SUPER comfy on the road. This car eats potholes, railroad crossings, and curbs for breakfast. Its impressive and can't wait for winter!!!!

Interesting. I just ordered mine and it will be here in a couple of weeks. I took one out for a test drive, mostly on the highway with a little run on a gravel woods road. It made me appreciate how smooth and capable my 2019 Forester Limited is, both on and off road! But it was the turbo engine that sold me. Getting up to my cottage requires driving on a two lane highway, with short passing areas. I'll feel safer with the turbo. Too bad the Forester Wilderness won't have one or I would have waited for that. Oh, and my cottage is down a 1 km dirt lane. Keeping my black Forester clean was impossible. Just sayin'...

@@edwardl.990 last of life ? I don’t know about that but yes very long time . How ever Subaru Turbo(EJ255/257) HG gaskets are a Multi Layer Seal and are interchangeable. They are spring steel outer layers sandwiching a inner core layer of various types of material depending on manufacture. This design has been a industry standard for two decades and still is the leading technology when it comes to HG. Pre 2003 were a composite gasket, subaru made the switch to the MLS gaskets in '03 and are plenty rigid. And This remanufactured JASPER engine offers several advantages,” said Brad Boeglin, JASPER New Product Development Group Leader. “We use multi-layer stainless steel design head gaskets, with larger embossments and coated with a rubber-based synthetic material to stop oil leaks. Cylinder heads are installed with NEW torque-to-yield bolts to provide even clamp load and reduce head gasket failure.” Again all cars do head gasket fail if you don’t do “ Maintenance . Dirty Battery acid will go thru radiator and then the engine will eat up the gasket . What’s the solution ? Keep the engine clean ! Flush the radiator and change the engine oil often and it will last a very long time . Alot of people don’t or being lazy .

the roof rails look better than what I see on 2021 outbacks in canada. for me a critical use of such a vehicle is canoe trip support vehicle, which means 72" Thule or Yakima bars for 2 tandem tripping canoes side by side. this is needed for shuttling, and currently our crew all use full size four wheel drive pickups and serious SUVs. my vehicle for replacement is an Xterra. so Subaru, looking at your canadian outbacks I am not sure I can put wide bars on it due to strange proprietary rail system. I like what I see in this video for roof rails better than what I see on other 2021 outbacks. I also wish it was a plug in hybrid, as it would make the mileage hit with the Wilderness acceptable for my commute. as it stands, it is hard to justify.

It would only go up a few percent even after over an hour of charging. The "skid plate" on this car is an absolute joke. Took mine offroading on a trail that was likely past its capability but we made it. Lifted my car to do a cleaning and realized the "skid plate" from factory is plastic with a thin aluminum foil as the plate. Absolutely trash that was fully dented to hell. Upgraded to a real skid plate for engine and transmission, and a rock slider from LP adventure and now its good to go. Also got the WARN hidden winch bumper now, as I got stuck in a really bad mud trap that sucked me down and bottomed me out (I am still having mud fall out weeks later) when I first got the car.

Hi! 🙂 Can you explain the "new ratio" in CVT? 🤔 They changed main ratio and we have now, for example, more rpm at 100km-60mp/h or they changed ratio only in X-Mode? Now, in regular CVT, in X-Mode chain going a bit "lower" on driving pulley and we have another ratio. So.... lower ratio in Wilderness means that CVT chain can go much lower in X-Mode or they changed whole ratio of driveline and we have higher rpm at 100km-60mp/h? Now, in TR580 is around 1600 rpm at 100km/h Btw. as usual best video!! Thx!! 👊🙂

@@CarQuestion ive owned an outback and now a gladiator. It’s not way more comfortable and the outback has a cvt. Even my wife’s cx5 which rides nicer than that outback isn’t way more comfortable than my Jeep. Only pot holes and bumps have some harshness to it and I’d rather hit them in something that can handle it vs a weak strut suspension. . Problem off road is once you’re stuck it can get you killed. It’s hard to get help. You don’t need to rock crawl to appreciate greater capability. . Lastly, people complain about the price of wranglers yet this costs more. So that says all it needs to say. This package costs Subaru very little and they charge a lot. If you want to go out in the wilderness get a true off roader even a 4R or Cherokee trail hawk.

Not everyone wants to rock crawl. I have a 2011 wrangler and a 2010 subaru and we take the subaru for road trips in the snow etc. Way more comfortable, saves more on gas. Don't get me wrong, the jeep is nice and way more capable, but at the same time, they're way more expensive now than ever 😅. And btw the 2010 outback I have has 105k miles and I have not really had any major problems with it, just regular wear and tear, maintenance etc. The jeep? Man I haven't driven it in a little while since I'm scared things will break lmao
@KTMcaptain
@KTMcaptain 2 жыл бұрын
@@tonygeronimojr.4863 very few people actually rock crawl in a Jeep. That’s a sad and pathetic straw man argument. Vast majority don’t see off road use. Newer wranglers ride better and between our JTR and CX5 we take the Jeep more places. Actually came in handy tonight when my sister in law drove over a curb in her Corolla and I winched her off it. Fact is you can get something with real capability that will be far less likely to leave you stranded for the same price as a plastic trimmed up and regeared outback with a new traction control algorithm that older models definitely won’t get. . I’d rather have the slightly bumpier ride and know I’m going home then possibly getting stuck in something because the weather changed or I underestimated the obstacle. . It’s an off road vehicle for people that won’t go off road. And good luck with Subaru reliability. I’ve had an outback and two imprezas… 2 replaced transmissions under warranty, 1 bad piston, and 1 bad head gasket. Highest mileage was 70k. Now they are CVT only. You’re paying thousands more for what amounts to probably $50 marginal cost and Subaru is laughing at everyone buying them.
