For anyone wondering what the numbers were. The dyno wasn’t fully calibrated just yet. Clint calibrated it himself until mustangdyno could do it. We put down 270 at first but later found out it was closer to 285whp!

Nice 285 on stock parts is pretty good but it should be like 300hp. Try changing spark plugs and coil packs. You should be able to get closer to 300hp. Also could change fuel filter for better fuel delivery.

I bought a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and had it for 10 years before broke a timing belt fixed it and put on a 16 EVO turbo, then it crankwalked soon after. Subarus just came stateside about that time and I finally got into my first Subaru which was a 2005 Legacy GT before I modded it to 345hp/376TQ...Id love to have a clean DSM as a side car project again...

Nice. Man I thought the 6 bolt 1st gen didn’t Crankwalk. Right now I have a Evo 9 so far she is running good. No big power that might be the reason. I want a 2nd GSX as a project.

If she keeps dumping oil into the motor, it could be the turbo seals... Usually valve seal issues will cause low compression and a slow compression leak during that leak-down test. But you were good. I'd give it up for the turbo being a little leaky. Make sure if you have an oil catch can to drain that, too. If you don't have an AOS, get one asap.
@1MotoXRacer14 жыл бұрын
@Hay Mamacita Yeah my bad I effed up, I didn't mean leak down test. They did just a comp test which might not find all issues with valve seals. But that shouldn't cause that much oil to be burnt.

Ya snail performance is the best
@sadsquad81243 жыл бұрын
@@BlueSTI Unfortunately snail gets a pretty bad wrap from the community in Reno and parts of NorCal. Travis only wants to give effort on his tunes if you’re in the know or getting your car built at M45. Two buddies of mine blew their engines with simple stage 2 modifications, so I’d rather not chance snail. Currently running a phatbotti etune and couldn’t be happier.
@BlueSTI3 жыл бұрын
@@sadsquad8124 just saying my experience with Travis. I've dealt with 2 other tuners that were shitty and had a bad tune. Then I went to Travis and got top notch service from him. He helped me alot. phatbotti is real good to.
@sadsquad81243 жыл бұрын
@@BlueSTI honestly that’s good to hear. I was originally going to go to snail just because it was close to me at the time, but my friends talked me out of it because of their bad personal experiences. There’s plenty of good tuners out there like Eric, Ron, Anthony, Mikey, etc. so really it just comes down to personal preference and how conservative of a tune you want to get. I wasn’t trying to completely discredit snail, but I did want to share why I have a somewhat negative perception of their tunes.

@Grooove_e4 жыл бұрын
Well either the valve seals are shot or the piston rings and or pistons are shot, either way that motor needs a rebuild asap or it will 100% explode making that much power Also: unless you're running an EWG the turbo shouldn't make that rattling sound, if it sounds like that its getting compressor surge, either that or the wastegate is so loud that you can hear it through the exhaust! Either way its such a cool car its definitely worthy of an engine rebuild/built engine
@iPlatano074 жыл бұрын
It's the intake that does that not the turbo
@Grooove_e4 жыл бұрын
@@iPlatano07 please tell me what part in the air intake system is supposed to make a rattling sound
@iPlatano074 жыл бұрын
@@Grooove_e I was referring to the pressure surge sound you was referring to. Mine 06 WRX makes that sound but it's because of the aftermarket intake. Now if you're talking about the last car it's because of the EWG that it sounds like that.
