Great video mate but it is a "Capacitor" not a "Resistor". But to fail after 30yrs is still not too bad and I doubt anybody at Subaru thought these cars would still be going. 😁

I know, like the car, I'm not perfect but happy to be still operating 😂

Hey Dorian. Thanks for your response. the display looks great on your video, just tell me what you want for it. FYI I'm an Adelaide boy, went to school Adelaide technical high in the 70's.

I checked the fingers the morning and nothing looked out of place. I removed them from the dash to see if there were any loose/missing wires but everything looked OK. Thanks for your help with this.

Do you have access to the Service manual? If not, on the weekend I'll check it out for you and see if there is anything else.

Hi @Larrygreen2402, I didn't get a chance to grab my service manual. I had my own challenge with a failed aircon bearing. I'll look this weekend.

Thank you for this breakdown of the repair. Do you happen to know if the same repair method works on a gas gauge that is reading incorrectly?
@subaru92svx1211 ай бұрын
You're welcome. The gas guage is a little different. It is generally due to the "devils horns" in the fuel sender unit guage (in the fuel tank). The "devils horns" normally lose contact. Search the forums for SVX Devil's Horns. My mate John Hunter Burge came up with it.

Thought you might be the only one able to help me with a problem with my 97 SVX. The tachometer and speedometer work, but the odometer and trip odometer don't. I thought it might be the gears in the odometer and trip, but I've tried 3 replacement speedometers (that include the odometer and trip odometer) and while the speedometer worked in all 3, the odometer and trip odometer didn't work in any of them. I'm assuming the problem must be electrical but have no idea what it might be. Any thoughts? Thanks.
@subaru92svx128 ай бұрын
Hi, that is a challenge. If each of the odometers isn't working, then it must be from the harness back. Check the fingers the instrument guage clips into. If corrosion has built up on the contacts, no or limited electrical current will flow. I'll chat with some fellow owners over the weekend. Regards Dorian

Hi, Is it possible to change/rebuild mph to km/h?
@subaru92svx127 ай бұрын
@Firefly-3161 - I can't see why not. The decal for the Miles vs Km should be a straight swap. The odometer might be harder.

Great video, I have a 92 that has a vin number of 186, first month production in 91. It is pretty mint condition , very well taken care of. Would you consider selling the new unit to me and I don't mind paying a premium price as I am getting it in showroom condition with a complete paint make-over to show at events. Please let me know thankyou . I have family in Chichester , and will be back again in July. Thanks Bradley
@subaru92svx12Ай бұрын
Hi Brad, I'm open to offers. To help you, I'm happy to take some detailed pictures of the unit and email them. I'm away travelling this week, so it will have to be next week. If you're doing a restoration, message me through either SVX Australia or SVX Nation as I have lots of new old parts. Regards, Dorian Isles
