Man this sounds awesome and looks awesome. I really want to upgrade the sound system. It's just so bad. I recently got a '16 WRX and I knew before hand the criticisms but my 2009 Ford Escape sounded so much better. Music is important to me, I don't know if I'd be able to do the work personally but there's car audio shops near me so I'mma have to check it out.

I'm figuring out the hard way that the screws that come with the Primus door speakers are too small for the Crutchfield brackets. I wish I had known that before pulling the door card off. Just a heads up for anyone thinking about trying this install: you'll need 16 screws with larger threads!

WRXGarage i was afraid of that if you don’t mind me asking for the set up you got wiring adapter plates for the speakers and the din for the dash with speakers and head unit so everything but the sub wiring kit and sub how much was your set up

Head unit 350, wiring harnesses were like 50 dash kit 50 sw 50 and then some miscellaneous adapters to keep the radio and center console usb that we’re pretty cheap

Hey buddy I have a rock Harmon Kardon system WRX 2014-2015 and did install of new Kenwood DDX920DAB and getting no sound at all. I'm guessing stock amp isn't kicking over and have tried all the harnesses that Aero had but not joy. Any ideas?

I just change my speakers today as you know the stocks speakers sucks but my question is im thinking to put a subwofer soon but do I have to change the head unit I have a pioneer too or should I just keep it stock head unit is there any different with stock or after market unit?

With an aftermarket head unit the subwoofer instal is easier because it has RCA, also your new speakers will sound a lot better because the new headunit will not only put out my power but will give you a bigger range of frequencies so it will sound all around better. Plus added features like car play it’s the way to go

One end connects to the port that’s the factory usb the other end is a usb and connects to the radio

I just installed the same Pioneer unit in my WRX, but for some reason when I go to HD radio there is nothing displayed. No option to select AM/FM, and can’t seek channels.

@@Foleys_Garage Nope. When I select HD Radio source, everything on that screen is blank. I see 1-6 on the left-hand side. The boxes that should have AM/FM are blank and there is a right and left arrow at the bottom with no frequency displayed.

@@Foleys_Garage yeah the metra adapter but did not use the blue wire. even removed everything and plugged the stock unit back in to make sure. and it radio worked on the stock unit. wonder if something is wrong with the unit itself. i would think it would at least display the frequency. i.imgur.com/x4wEgYd.jpg

You may also have a poor ground connection that is possible. I would check that usually a black wire try to keep the radio plugged in end get a good ground on there see if that works

No I added and external mic that comes with the radio. To retain it you have to do a bunch of stuff so I said screw that.

Well, I had quite the struggle yesterday getting my old OEM head unit out of my 2017 WRX. I got the top bolts and passenger bolt out without much fuss but that driver's side bolt in the footwell would not come loose. I even moved the leg airbag out of the way and that sucker would not come off. I am embarrassed to say that I ended up yanking the head unit out far enough to get my Dremel in there and cut off the metal bracket. Felt extremely unnecessary for such a simple job. I used my shop vac to blow out all that was behind the dash that got metal bits all over. I used an extension and a hammer to bend the sharp metal that was left as far as I could. The previous owner had a subwoofer installed at one point and had the head unit out to do the wiring. I believe when they put it back together that they severely overtighten the bolts (especially driver's one). I had my impact gun and breaker bars with a long extension and all I was able to do was bend the metal bracket. Somehow I did not strip the bolt. Anyways all cleaned up and installed now. I just need to get Android Auto to work more reliably.

I am using the amp to feed the sub only, in the future I may go to a 5 channel amp. Tweeters are still stock. They do have a 9 inch I didn’t get it because I was trying to do this as cheap as possible without cutting corners
