I don't think it's ugly, but you're right how it's cute and rugged at the same time.

Oh look it's the best kind of ugly. I actually really like how the XV looks, it's bravely different to anything else out there - it's one of the reasons I admire Subaru for not just building another SUV that looks like everything else. That said the Tiguan is pretty ; ) Richard Berry

CarsGuide.com.au yeh totally understandable, btw a comparison of all the top hatchbacks would be a interesting video, impreza vs i30 vs mazda 3 vs astra vs corolla vs civic

A hatch-off! Yes, a comparo would be epic. I'm driving the new i30 at the moment - it's so going after Golf with the styling so you could add the VDub to that list too! Richard

I bought a new MY18 and am experiencing a noticeable shudder when driving steadily under 60kmh. I took it back to the dealer and requested a specialist Subaru mechanic come for a drive with me. Before we even hopped into the vehicle he told me that many people have complained about the low speed shudder and that there was an underlying issue with the new CVT gearbox. Currently Subaru Japan have not provided a fix. I would recommend not buying this vehicle until a recall has been issued. By the way I contacted Subaru directly and they denied there was an issue. I was hoping more from a company like Subaru. I wish someone had warned me before I dropped $37k on a lemon.
@pablosabhlok5 жыл бұрын
I'd still buy it, but I'd negotiate the top spec down to 35K or less. So that way, if anything goes wrong, my maintenance costs are covered by an initial low sale price. Plus I'd push them to fix it for free under the 5 year warranty.

I test drove the new Impreza sport hatch recently, which this Crosstrek is based on. It was certainly a good handling and refined car, but already underpowered, even in stick-shift (which wasn't good on gas). I drove the CVT too and it was even more anemic, but the mpgs were better. The bigger wheels and beefier suspension on the Crosstrek would only make things worse. Otherwise, it's a very good vehicle and a welcomed improvement, but I ended up buying the new turbo AWD CR-V, due to way more space and power, for the same mpgs and price when you get beyond the base trim.

I took one for a test drive (top of the range one) and really fell in love with it. Currently we have 2011 Forester, MY15 WRX and 2017 BRZ. I must say the interior and the comfort of new XV is the best. Loved the CarPlay and I believe the GPS is by TomTom. I must say it lacks power and I am not comparing with WRX or BRZ, it would have been much better if it was at least 130kW.

maybe it is because I have an older car an 2000 Saturn sl2. but I don't know why everyone says that it is slow. or just enough power. I thought it was peppy and I loved the cvt compared to my 4 speed in my Saturn.

Does it have a full size spare?
@carsguide7 жыл бұрын
Nope, under boot floor is a space saver spare. It's better than nothing. Australia is actually one of the few countries that even get a spare in the XV.
@jimmyjimmy9517 жыл бұрын
CarsGuide.com.au Test drove this car last week. The spare was a full sized steel wheel but only rated to 80kmh. Not much use if you buy this car for use in rural Australia. How hard could it be to add a genuine spare for those of us who use a cars capabilities beyond multi story ramps?
@carsguide7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jimmx Jimmx, that's a space saver spare - they're only rated to 80km/h and in most cases you shouldn't travel more than 200km on it - so yes not much chop if you live in remote areas of Australia. It looks like a full size spare from the top but the width of the wheel is a lot narrower than a regular wheel. I had a good discussion with the XV's chief engineer about this - I think it should be mandatory for all cars in Australia to have a full sized spare, but car companies sometimes don't share this view. Richard Berry
@RobertWeatherall6 жыл бұрын
These days if you need a full size spare you also need a roof basket and wheel mount. RIP fuel economy

It doesn't quite do it for me albeit quite and safe secure motoring it's still a dull car to drive with uninspiring performance. The 2.00 liter engine needs a few more HP to make it less boring.

vitara or xv ?
@ramazanozgun36646 жыл бұрын
please?
@carsguide6 жыл бұрын
Hmm... the Vitara's boot is quite a bit bigger, but the XV is longer end to end. The XV feels far more premium and has a higher quality fit and finish with better in-car tech. The Vitara has great acceleration, but the XV with its CVT feels sluggish. So it depends - if you want space and practicality then go the Vitara. If you want something more refined and premium feeling then the XV could be for you. Richard Berry
