I guess I am the only one that is not too hot on some of this car's features. One thing is the constant alerts saying I am not watching the road. Who knows, maybe my face is an odd shape, but it does it all the time. I disabled it by blocking off the narrow black area above the main screen that has navigation, etc. Then, the radio is enough to send one off a cliff. It comes on every time you start the car. First, I don't listen to the radio while I drive and I also like to hear my engine when I start it as I use the sounds over the years to gauge the "health" of my vehicle's engine. Had to put Sirius at station "0" to stop this. What engineer made the decision that every driver listens to the radio? Odd. The seat belts are really fun, too. Most sane designers give you 15 to 20 seconds of motion before buzzing and alarming the occupant, but not this little beauty. It starts screaming at you immediately and then in about 2 seconds screams even louder. So, I am purchasing seat belt inserts so I can do simple tasks, like driving my car from the driveway into the garage without being pelted with buzzers. There are a few more, but some I do like were featured in the video.....like the automatic bright headlights.

I have it on my new 2017 Legacy. Works amazing as advertised. My only concern is me staying alert in traffic since the car basically drives itself. I find myself using my phone in traffic and letting the car drive itself which isn't safe obviously.

once the vehicle stops for more than a few seconds it deactivates it and you have to reactive it with the toggle switch or by pressing the gas. but slow and go traffic (As long as the vehicle ahead is moving, it'll stay activated)

Have 2016 liberty/legacy sedan. The only thing I don't like are the seats. Headrest is adjustable but it leans to far forward and seats have no bolstering. And you can't start the car and lock it from the outside if you want to warm it up and go back inside. Other than that the car is amazing and eyesight has saved me a few times. 3.6 is fast too

Notice the car did not have to be totaled and a court order used to get 22 seconds of video from the system. Eyesight is indeed able to output its video feed to a recorder. Now how the heck do I buy one so I can have full time recording??? I have read that in Japan and possibly other SE Asian markets one can buy a recorder to plug in to Eyesight but travel is a bit iffy just recently.

Oh my god this is a LIFE SAVER - ALL automobiles should be required to install collision avoidance systems - it's more important than seat belts. And NOT self-drive computers, they kill passengers when the software fails. EYESIGHT keeps the humans in control, and helps prevents mistakes that cause injury and death.

Then a day or two later I wanted to test it again and it did not work at all. Then a day or two later I tested it again and the rear alarm and breaking works, but not the front. This is what the system does well. I have had it activate a couple of times as I approached an intersection with a car in front of me making a right turn as I go straight, I continue on knowing that the car turning will clear the intersection before I get there, but the car just sees a nearly stationary object ahead and momentarily jabs the breaks while reducing throttle. Kind of weird the first time, but its rare and it lets you know the systems working.

If a car has eyesight technology can the front windshield be tinted?
@fubartotale33894 жыл бұрын
I would not, the cameras should be taped off before spraying glass cleaner on the windshield so to not contaminate the lens. If a mechanic touches the lens at the dealer, procedure is to replace the lens. These are precision optical devices and should be treated as such. The payoff here is that the system is by far the best one our there.

Thank you for the video. A lot of great information. Question: I have a Subaru Forrester 2018 with eyesight. I love the adaptive cruise control feature but it would be a lot better if the cruise control would keep working after the car is stopped longer than 3 seconds. It is very annoying when I am driving in heavy traffic as there are many times my car has to be stopped more than 3 seconds and I have to keep re-starting the cruise control otherwise the car will move forward on it own and not stay in place. Any ideas what I can do??! Do you know when Subaru upgraded the eyesight system? 2019? 2020? Thank you in advance for your help!

self driving cars are the worst - they cut people off when other cars merge from the left... see it all the time. Eyesight is the best option: The HUMAN is in control of the car. If the Human screws up and makes a mistake, eyesight keeps the airbags in their pouches and the seat belts from retracting ! Airbags: humans made bad mistakes Seatbelts: humans made dumb mistakes Eyesight: human is not allowed to make mistake, car protects itself ! :-)

I was FORCED to get the Eyesight model, because I wanted Navigation... stupid me -- I should have bought the model without Eyesight and bought a Garmen. For me, Eyesight is a horrible, awful tech, since, I am the driver of the car... as far as I'm concerned, the Eyesight is another way of texting, poor drivers, and drunks to be get away with driving -- "Eyesight -- the enabling tech". Wait until you TRY to go around a car 1/2 in your lane (a squeeze-maneuver), when Eyesight slams on the brakes, or when you have to get up close to pass a car on a two lane road, and Eyesight flashed red warning and audible alerts of too close at you. Thank God I was able to disable the awful lane departure feature. Oh, and wait until you are driving in pitch darkness in deer country, when you NEED your high beams and the car detects a headlight a mile away and shuts off your ability to use high beams... you have to pull back on the flash-to-pass lever and hold it, to get high beams. And stupid me paid $3,000 for this piece of shit -- well, the car itself is great, but the Eyesight is AWFUL. But, I see many commercials now with Eyesight-type systems in their cars -- so much for having to learn good driving habits...

Or dropping a valve because of faulty springs because Subaru was too cheap to put higher quality valve springs from the start. Maby the development money could be better spent Subaru.
