Tbh, this song is not only a certified headbanger and just makes me want to break everything in my room, it also has something of a narrative going on in the lyrics, that of Dante's internal relationship. It basically comes down to this: Dante, being a hybrid, is half-human, half-demon; his two sides compel him to act in opposite ways. The human-side is lawful and benevolent, wanting him to act with control and reason, for a good cause ("I cannot erupt", "I must control"); meanwhile, his demon-side keeps contained within him, begging to be let out to take over and cause mayhem, act on impulse and with sheer violence ("Let me out", "I must explode"). Both sides despise each other, the human-half hating and wishing to restrain and completely subdue the other ("I will not falter, shout at the devil", "Got no respect for the demons in my head"), while the demon-half wishes to come loose and fully take over, uproot the more rational half which it itself thinks very little of ("Hellbound", "I am subhuman", the latter meaning less than human, an imperfect human, not truly human). You could see a few possible outcomes to the conflict: 1) Demon-Dante takes over. The chorus always ends with "I must explode" after the human-half utters "I cannot erupt", "I must control"; this could be seen as Dante giving up the fight and allowing his impulses to control him; 2) Human-Dante aligns with Demon-Dante. To redirect our impulses toward a goal is the best outcome: not only is a great fuel for action not wasted, but it is not used wrongly. It is what Dante is doing. What makes me love this song so much is how it fits with Dante's personality perfectly. This game is where Dante has pretty much reached the peak of both his power and his development, so the song sees his human and demon part constantly switching depending on what his needs are. "I must control" is him holding back and controlling himself when he is with his loved ones, while "You cannot kill me" and "Let me out" are his demonic part taking over when he needs to fight. It's at the same time musically amazing, badass, fitting for the character and extremely relatable.

Dante is Son of Sparda, user of The Devil Sword Sparda (this gives him nearly full power of his father, Legendary Demon Swordsman Knight Sparda) and plus he has The Rebellion sword, contains another part of Sparda's power. He kicked prince of darkness, king of underworld Mundus's ass at age 28 and now he is 40 years old. He f.. clapped powerfull guardians of the underworld only at age 19, he has ebony and ivory, amazing guns made by Nell Goldstein only for him. He can use the power of demons that he kills etc... Now on the other hand there is Nero he has a glowing arm and revolver, he is Sparda's kin but not directly son of him, and he is much less battle experienced than Dante. Nero is so cool and i like him but he can't fight Dante :)

Let's be honest guys, this theme fits our wacky wahoo pizza man perfectly Virgil dislikes his human side and thinks it's weak and caused him all that pain on that day in their house But Dante is the opposite, he completly despises demons and hates himself for having this devil inside himself, always feeling like he is a monster and that their demonic heritage destroyed their lifes, if you dive deep into the expanded lore you see that his demonic side is the cause of all the suffering on his life, boy lost his mother, his brother and his deadbeat demon dad was knowhere to be seen. All his childhood, adolescence he suffered for being a demon, and he brought pain to all he ever loved, his mercenary friends and colleagues died because of it, sure Mundos sent them, but they would not have died if Dante wasn't around them, even his surrogate mother, Neil, died because of him, never even knowing his true name or nature. All of Dante's life has been suffering after suffering, all because of his demon herritage. Dante hates himself, always feeling like he has to hold back this demon inside him so at least he won't make anyone else suffer, putting this facede of a funny guy who doesn't care about jack shit to hide his pain always feeling like his about to explode. He trully feels like he is literally subhuman

I can't believe the disrespect, the audacity, to not give this fucking banger at least half of the views that Nero and Vergil's OST have. This style of rock is not for everybody, but you got to be kidding me that this has less views than V's theme, THE DISRESPECT. Since I was a kid I always thought that Dante's theme should be at least a heavy metal, so when I played DmC 5 and this started to play, I never slapped some asses so hard in the history of this franchise as I did that moment. Is incredible how all the themes in DmC 5 fit so fucking well with all of the characters, and how, just how they managed to make every track to be perfect, they are all legit fire.

Oh my god this version is so much better than the original, they toned every instrument up and the vocals down, also I think they changed the vocalist, which is a plus. Heavier, deeper, not as screechy as the original.
