That was a dumb blunder not adding Kenny's deck in the video. For all interested this is the original build of C.O. Burn imgur.com/a/3fEL3 , This is the machine C.O. Build that got top 4 at a SJC imgur.com/a/4357z (Dark Bribe was then released)

So this guy invented the famous smokescreening tactic of playing two decks at once. Anyways that was pretty insightful video, I'd love to see one on Airblade Turbo or what I like to think was of the very first OTK decks ever created,

Man I want to play all these old formats again, but it's impossible obviously. Back then I didn't know very much about the meta, I just stuffed by deck with 1900 attack level 4 beaters, and random spell and traps I thought were good.

@@jacobburr7835 Banish deck w/ Tyrano Infinity long ago, but half the time I just piled together a bunch of individually strong cards and rolled with it. Thought about getting back into it during the synchro/xyz era's but I gave up when I saw entire decks with cards that all had the same names and were created specifically to be used together. The world has become very meta driven over the last decade.

I played at comic odyssey when it was owned by an old guy everyone called uncle it was the best place ever along with wizards at the mall but wizards went under and uncle sold his shop to an asshole who ran it down and so the golden time of yugioh died. I think that the first guy to win a yugioh championship played ther he won the first cyber stein and the first to win a yugioh regionals. they both quit. Comic oddesey and wizards were always packed and the tournaments had great prizes which included money and boxes. the card distribution made it so peoples cards actually had value. I was 14 so I couldn't really afford them but worked on trading and over time started trading for cards like yata and delinquent duo. traded a whole cheap burn deck for an ultra rare 1st ed mirror force. best time ever

Stein siding into Monarchs was a thing for a long time. And Overdose was running Wave-Mo burn using a Tomato engine siding into Monarchs months before CO in the same format. Alvarado made top 16 at Montreal and was rumoured to forfeit to not leak the list as only the top 8 lists were released (UDE/Metagame coverage was extremely weird back then). CO expanded on it by adding in meta trends like main deck Trap Dustshoot, as well as taking the idea of using Trooper with Dimension Wall from the weird tempo deck that Womack made top 4 with at US Nationals that year (Very early Machine Beatdown with D Walls, Goldd and Dark World Lightning teched in. It looks ass on paper, but I tested it years after when playing Troop Dupe for fun and it was actually really good against that meta). COs only major innovation was using Rats over Tomatoes and abandoning Stealth Bird for Skill Drain. It's still a crazy good deck that required a lot of understanding of the meta to pilot, but you're not going back far enough to really understand where it came from. I also feel like if Wing Blast had been discovered for Destiny Monarchs at the time, it would have faired much better. Wing Blast is what let Labounty really dominate CO burn in the finals in Maryland.

I have a friend who was big into YuGiOh from the beginning, and he says he used to tell everyone as soon as Metal Raiders came out that Solemn Judgment was the best card in the set. He always ran three of them and even managed to win a sizeable tournament playing a gimmicky relinquished rituals deck right after Spell Ruler came out...entirely because he would basically end every game with less than 1000 lp, but never allowing a major opposing threat to take hold. He's the one who taught me YuGiOh, even though he hasn't played a real cards game since 2011. But his big hint he gave me about the game was that the only life point that matters is the last one. He also used to use Jirai Gumo for the same reasons...which in the early days of beatdown was actually a powerhouse.

I played a tournament in the UK cant remember exactly where or when 2000 but it was in either Manchester or Leeds as I lived in the north of the U.K at the time. But it was around the time starlight road was released and built a deck around wave motion cannon that main decked 3 starlight roads to take advantage of the fact that players would try to use mass removal to get rid of them, and summon 1 to 3 stardust dragon, letting me negate further attempts to destroy my back row. I remember the deck getting quite a lot of attention at the time due to its unique nature, and it did give me a good placing, top 64 if memory serves.

Some other guy inspired me to look into frog exodia and I ended up tweaking it to a version that was so streamlined, it could either win on turn 2 through exodia, or side into controll/beatdown. Then some other guy took the concept further and turned it into a turn one burn deck... Then that one frog that made it all possible got banned before anyone could try it in a serious tourney. The deck was seriously lame to play against, since there really was nothing to do to stop it. But I do wonder what would have happened if someone came up with it sooner. Kindof curious to know if our claims to it being a guaranteed win were true, or if the pros would have figured out a way around it. XD

I played Yugioh during the Jinzo days 02-04 and shortly after, but when the Burn deck was a thing ( it truly wasnt even taken serious ) there was a lot of control cards ( spells ) that can clear Jinzo no problem.. even SIMPLE flip effects IE man eater bug. This video is honestly off when it came to the Jinzo part.

This is a fair point. I do recall cards like Messenger of Peace in particular while I think being limited causing quite a lot of problem along with cards like Level Limit - Area B. In GX we managed to attain Mobius who'd be a better tool at dealing with those cards. That said I do think Jinzo was still the de-facto choice when dealing with a lot of these builds.

Dark Bribe was a card that didn't see play in the initial build but further on in the meta and when it did it made most Stun/Burn decks like this most players worst nightmare to deal with. Giving your opponent a free draw was more than worth the price to keep a powerful card like Skill Drain or Macro Cosmos in play.

Dragon Capture Jar gave me 2nd place thanks to my friend knowing I´d play dragons. He did not only outsmarted me, he totally obliterated me with that single card. i find it funny to say "this never happend in the pro-level", like its completely impossible. But the thing is, 99% of "pro-players" are just netdecking and striktly to.."bad" to build decks on their own. Then you have guys like him, who can actually do it. And then its pretty easy to beat a couple of net-deckers.
