Sublimation Printer Settings and Manual Color Correction

Sublimation printer settings and manual color correction is one of the most challenging part of the sublimation business.
In this tutorial, I will show you a Step-by-step Procedure on How to Calibrate your Sublimation Printer - Manual Color Correction
One of the most common problems in sublimation printing is getting the right color, hence it is impossible to get the perfect color, we can still achieve a closer color that is acceptable for our customers.
Since Sublimation requires different ink other than the original ink that is included together with the brand new printer, all the color profiles included during the setup is not reliable. so we have to do it manually.

Hi Grom, yes po. specially po kung converted printer ang gamit. wala talagang specific na ICC profiles.

Nope, i cant find any icc profile that works for my printer(Epson L805) that is why i did it manually...

I recommend to try different paper type first, to check which one will give you more closer color, then start playing color adjustment...

Hi, I found your videos super helpful. But I will be really thankful if you can help me out me , I am using Epson sublimation printer F130. With sublimation ink and paper both Epson, how to calibrate my printer? And in this printer preference has only two options. (Rigid and textile) . How to adjust or calibrate the colour for better result. As now the prints and Colors are not as vibrant as it should be even after the press. Thanks in advance.

if im not mistaken, try to start buy printing small sample using rigid and textile, then press, which ever profile give a better result then try to focus there and start to play with the photoshop settings.

Hi CT, are you using it for sublimation? you just need to compare whatever options you have in your system. if there's no ultra glossy available, then use something else...

Do do you always switch in photoshop to CMYK? And once you determine your specific profile, do you notice you have problems using same profile with other prints? Also, noticed in photoshop you tell it to allow printer manages color but in printer settings you still aren't allowing printer to make adjustments, correct? Thanks ahead for this video.

1. Yes, I always switch to CMYK. 2. The profile will only work for the same paper, if you will use different paper, you need to test it again and do the same procedure if needed. In my experience, i recalibrated my profile when I change the brand of my sublimation paper. 3. yes, what matters is the changes you made in Printer settings...

hi kuyajosh, i don't have a specific tutorial for pigment but the procedure will be the same. it is much easier becaue you can see the color the moment you print the sample. you dont need to press it.

Nice .. But when you printed the papers, did you use one piece of paper and cut the part to be pressed .. But how do you go back to inserting the paper to the printer when it was cut ?! Can you explain that to me

Hi Othman, yes I am using only one paper. In my printer, the sensor is on the right side of the printer. 1. A4 size paper is 21cm width, My Image is 9cm width, ( in this case I could be able to print on both sides of the paper... 2. So what I am doing, I am putting the image on the left side, (then cut only the image leaving at least 1cm on the left and 11cm of paper uncut) 3. On the second print, print on the right side (printer will still be able to detect the paper since the right side is still uncut.) 4. Cut the whole line(Row) to remove extra paper, ( so if the original height of the paper is 29.7cm and the image that you printed is 1cm. Then on the third print, the size of your paper might be 28.2 cm only. Therefore you can repeat step 2. (I hope it helps)

Hello, I don’t think there’s an exact settings for all of us specially that we’re using different printers, papers and 3rd-party ink... I recommend to do it manually like what I have shown in this tutorial,... I have searched a lot of color correction tutorials before but all didn’t work... and the same problem will keep happening until you resolve the issue... please follow my tutorial and believe me, you will be happy with the result...

@@bosslady7490, skintone is the main problem with sublimation, please follow this tutorial, and for sure your issue will be resolve. once you finalized your settings save it and drag it in every file that you will print in the future.

Hi Anderson, it will depend on the settings of your mugs. when i created this video, my mugs required 180 seconds to transfer the image. but right now, my mugs only require 60 seconds. use the normal settings that you're currently using and calibrate the color as per this tutorial.

hi Sir Rey, mas ok sir naka layer, ang ginawa ko.. naka save sya tapos nakagroup sa isang folder(layer). then everytime na magpiprint ako.. idadrag ko yung settings ko dun sa new file ko.. and see to it lang po na nka white lahat ng mask. para macover nya ung whole image mo.

the better way is to profile the printer and the ink, this method will get you a good image for only those colors that are in the test image, it will not remap colors that are out of the spectrum of the ink and printers gamut. the only thing is you need a flat substrate of the ceramic mug, mouse pad, clothing etc, that is the ONLY way to get accurate colors on each substrate....

yes, trial and error at first, but worth it once you get your final settings. I lessen my waste of material, and more confident now with my colors. most of us are using 3rd party ink, so you cannot rely on the Epson's color profile. so instead of wasting our time looking for the right profile, why don't we do it manually.
