Excellent, excellent video Alessandro. Your very useful tips have already made my Sublime Text/Coding experience much more efficient, beneficial and easier on the eyes with more breathing room now. Thanks man. Just learning Emmet and it literally can do 50% of the base Bootstrap html coding for you with all the little shortcut codes. Absolutely amazing that you covered everything I need and then some in a short 20min video. Very much appreciated. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. Bought my ST license a few days ago and don't regret it a bit. Lightning fast with all the packages one could want for web/app development. Although Atom is open source, I found it to be very slow/sluggish at startup and opening big files very frustrating... (sometimes crashing) and I have an overkill dev workstation. So it wasn't the hardware. Having multiple files open... it's a massive memory hog and opens tons and tons of sub-processes. C++ coded Sublime Test versus Web coded Atom, no wonder there's a huge difference.

For those who don't want to fork over $70, there is also Brackets, Atom, and Visual Studio Code by Microsoft which all cost nothing. Most of these programs have the same / similar plugins. Atom was a bit CPU intensive for me. I've tried all and settled on Brackets for my workflow, it has live previewing with hot reload so you can see changes as you type code. It is also very lightweight. It is great to have options and of course people should use what they are comfortable with in order to write code quicker. Thanks for your wonderful videos.

The main reason that I continued to use Sublime, as opposed to Notepad++, was when I discovered an easy FTP workflow with SFTP Sidebar. Awsome plugin, once you know how to set it up.
@alecaddd7 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, I used to rely a lot on packages to implement FTP and SFTP transfer inside Sublime. Now my workflow is a bit different so I don't need it anymore, but nonetheless it's a pretty useful package.

I started with sublime when I started studying code first time. I had so much hard time because the interface is not new user friendly at all. right now I am using VS. the interface shows everything such as extensions. sublime is good stuff, but for new to programming, go with VS. As I know about editor now, I can use Sublime. but it was pain my ass before.

Is it possible to `dive` into your wordpress theme creation series and be able to create my own theme after watching it? Well I know it'll take a lot of effort trying understanding how the coding works. Just to learn how everything works I'm trying to create smth using 'Pinegrow' or 'Pingendo' and than understand whats what :) And for learning `css` I use 'Yellow Pencil' from waspthemes. Also would would like if you'll create series of `how to create custom woocommerce site`. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. :)

What shortcut did you use to delete same numbers at 9:38?
@alecaddd6 жыл бұрын
That's the multicursor feature of Sublime Text. If you select a word, number, or whatever, that exists in other parts of your file, you can hit CTRL+D on your keyboard to select all the instances of that word. Now you have multiple cursors which will type at the same time.

I had the JSLint called when doing a Save--All via custom binding CTRL+ALT+S and could not insert text or use return key after cancelling the Lint messages and detail screen. Restarting ST allowed editing but any attempt to save just brought back the JSLint stuff again. Had to throw JSLint out after this. So I cannot advise viewers to use this package.
