There might be something wrong with your brain then. The fear of places that feel "off" is shared by the vast majority of people. If you want to analyse deeper, that "off" feeling likely comes from the fact that we are social beings and being lost on your own often means death for you. The primary aspect of liminal spaces is that they are transitional, they aren't places you would typically linger. Being stuck in such a reality bending place without any other life around you is the part that's scary. It's like being condemned in limbo. If you were trapped in a maze of endless rooms and strange architecture, the fear and panic would drive you to madness. By all logic, it should frighten you, so if it doesn't, then maybe you lack imagination. @@isodoublet

@@petrkdn8224 Most games aren't trying to be super-realistic, and it would be to the detriment of most games's art styles to attempt such. A bit of stylization is integral to making a game stand out and age better. Games have the benefit of not being real life, so they can take creative liberties with things such as lighting and color balance to better suit the tone of the scene (and more importantly, the gameplay). I personally don't see the appeal in hyper-realism in games; it's a novelty at best. I want graphics to look interesting and memorable, not realistic. Why have graphics comparable to real life when you can have graphics more interesting than real life? The limits to graphics in real life are defined by the laws of physics, but the limit of graphics of games are only restrained by how creatively you can manipulate the output of the GPU. There's a reason Borderlands and Wind Waker settled on the art styles they did; a interesting art style is memorable, but a realistic art style is forgettable (anyone remember Black?).

From a time when the power of consoles was measured in bits, and 4 buttons and a D pad on a controller seemed like enough. I'm really excited for this game, these eerie, familiar levels is the type of horror that actually scares me. But one thing that I would like to see is like a "adventure game mode" for just exploring without any monsters to chase you. A lot of the level would make really cool wallpaper engine backgrounds.

The PSA at the beginning is my type of horror. I love fake vintage PSAs, because they feel so real, the quality of the video makes like it could have actually existed in the real world, and I just, didn't know about it, and the way the video distorts more and more as it gets closer to the end is just... perfect. 👌 I wanna see more horror like this. Really looking back at this, although the camera and graphical work is amazing, the trailer barely shows much of it's enviromental potential before it slaps you with the hollywood trailer quotes and monster chase sequences, what we see is too cluttered to feel like the backrooms or a liminal space, it just doesn't capture the vibe well yet, if the entire trailer is focused in being a chase simulator you can get the idea the devs might not fully understand that backrooms is about the atmosphere rather than a monster simulator, it's possible to invoke the feelings you want with just the empty enviroment and playing mind tricks.
