without sub cable, you can't have satellite other than that, Speed and reliability for cable but pollution of the ocean and destruction of ecosystem since the cable is disturbing the marine life

I've a question. What is the "power" in a cable? I mean if a undersea cable has 1000MW of power this mean that it can trasport 1000MW/h of energy? For example if an island has energy plants for 50000MW of power, a cable with just 1000MW of power can trasport all the energy that plants produce or it is too "weak" to do it? Thank for your answer

Why don’t we have power cables connecting continents? Is there a technical limitation or something else (eg no use case for it or too expensive or political reasons)

Many power subsea cables interconnect islands and coastal countries. The world’s longest electricity interconnector (North Sea Link, 450 miles) has been operated between the UK and Norway since October 2021. Before making it longer and longer, limits are mainly economical (refer to the size of the cables in the video, required materials, specific vessel for installation). The deeper, the more complex. “Global super grids” have been considered since 1950, and become a recurrent topic to harness world renewable energy. At the moment, efforts are made to develop interconnections between countries within a continent, and the feasibility study of loops such as that around the Mediterranean Sea between Europe and North Africa are key projects.
