Subs need massive mobility nerfs. The type XXI is over twice as fast in WOWS as it was IRL. From wikipedia, the historical specs are: 15.6 knots (28.9 km/h; 18.0 mph) surfaced 17.2 knots (31.9 km/h; 19.8 mph) submerged[1] [4] 6.1 knots (11.3 km/h; 7.0 mph) (silent running motors) They could also tie the detectability to the speed, so the faster you go the more detectable you are. Watching this thing drift around the map and run circles around the enemy team is disgusting.

Spot on this is the sort of thinking that should have been implemented with subs in WOWS from the get go.... All WOWS devs should be required to play no less than 120 in game hours (with specific in game achievement requirements) of the PC classic Silent Service 2 game in order for them to begin to wrap their heads around this concept. In reality sub commanders were DEATHLY AFRAID of getting near warships (especially DDs) - shotgunning was NEVER a thing in real life. Plus guided torpedoes were not even in existence for the era depicted in WOWS. Sonor (mainly passive listening) by subs to find targets and active sonar was then used in multiple pings to determine target speed - the crew then calculated the route of UNGUIDED torps to hit the target.

This shouldn't even be a thing.... There is something really wrong about thinking that winning in a ship that literally "cheats" is in anyway sportsmanlike. But I guess if you live in Russia you maybe don't truly understand what fairness and sportsmanship is because of where you grew up (this is a Russian game). This crap should have never got past testing - nothing about subs in this game is even close to realistic (especially for WW2/Korean War era). Absolute garbage. I don't understand the pride in such play unless you were excessively bullied as a child and need professional mental health assistance.

Yeah I wish this game was more realistic I should be able to strike with 20 planes at once and have 20 more on the way at once from my carrier, with another 15 around the ship so I have a bolstered aa defence Also everyone on the team should keep close by me to even further boost my aa because this is ww2 carrier combat And in case I forgot to mention it ships should get destroyed by 4 bombs and 2 torps regardless of the ship class If only we had more realistic mechanics in this game

@@wrkkvikrmvh1023 I get your point but I don't think you get mine. From a game mechanics standpoint the implementation of subs themselves actually makes zero sense. Why do they get guided torpedoes? Why can they go as fast as a surface ship underwater with practically zero impact on their detection. Ect... When you play a classic submarine game like Silent Service 2 then look and what's going on with subs in WOWS you then literally scratch your head and say WTF. I need someone to explain to me how this game wouldn't be better off and have more people playing it were not for the subs in the game as they are currently implemented. I know of multiple people who have left the game for this very reasons Subs are hurting this game and I don't think Wargaming actually understands just how much. It's not the fact that they are in the game it's how they are implemented..... And sub implementation is way worse than CVs. At least stuff has been done to measurablely improve CV implementation. So no I am not whining I am just calling out this mess for what it is. You can only like this crap if you're in some way mentally unstable.

@@toddashley407 Why do you complain about subs? I mean that crappy "radio location" skill has no counter either. (If they locate my radio, why can't I turn it off?). All those saying that subs are too fast in WOWS - that may be so in higher tiers. But NEVER argue with real world capabilities of historic subs. I am sure their dive time was more like 1 week than 5 minutes.... Also, keep in mind that the replays you see here are not the norm. You just won't see those "sub rushed and killed in first 5 minutes of battle" replays here on youtube. Which is closer to the norm. How many kills did the 2 subs in the other team have, combined? 0. This is more like what you get in your average sub-game.

@@ruffianeo3418 You have your perceptions and I have mine. Just like you have your expectations of what the game should be vs what I do. And you know what that is ok. What matters at the end of the day for an individual playing the game is weather or not their expectations for the game are up to a level that keeps them playing. Personally I believe that sub implementation is broken in this game (a long with some glaring non-sub related issues) - and you don't have to agree. I firmly believe that the sub implementation needs adjustment and if done properly it will lead to more people playing the game which I believe is good for all players. I would like to play this game more but then I think about how subs are handled in this game and I generally play something else. You don't have to agree with me.
