About it:
Welcome to the Modelship-Event "Modellbau LIVE 2012" from the North of Germany...
Once a year the Modellclub "de Modellshippers" Neumünster organizes a two days lasting event in a 50x50 Meter Pool where radiocontrolled Ships are able to set sail on day and night. For our equipment have a look below....

Allgemein:
Einmal im Jahr richtet der Schiffsmodellbauclub "de Modellshippers e.V." im Norden Deutschlands diese 2 tägige Großveranstaltung aus. Modellbauer aus ganz Deutschland und den Nachbarländern Dänemark, den Niederlanden sowie Belgien kamen mit über 300 Modellen um bei Tag und Nacht Ihre Modelle auf dem 50x50m großen Schwimmbecken fahren zu lassen.
Dies hier sind Ausschnitte aus den dabei vom Filmteam der Tauchschule Scubalu gemachten Unter- und Überwasseraufnahmen. Die weiteren Teile werden in loser Abfolge ca. alle 1-2 Wochen online gestellt.

Same here. And to me, it's not just about them being submersible. It's about them replicating an actual sub. So the idea of a submersible camera sub is not the same as a replica of a Los Angeles class sub that does the same thing. I would love to have one of these that I could mount a camera on an explore lakes and such..but it would have to look like a real sub. Know what I'm saying?

Yes Andy, definitely! For me it's a bit more easy because I'm from the science's side.. wich makes the possible scientific sub design widely more versatile... but still they'll have to have some specific points wich make them differ from toy subs...

Hallo VOIX,... kein Problem :-) Englisch geht auch :-)). Ja, es ist tatsächlich möglich, das große U-Boot von Revell zu motorisieren und sogar tauchfähig zu bauen. Dazu als Empfehlung: Google das mal mit folgenden Suchbegriffen: revell, modelluboote.de, Ausbausatz, VIIc Dann sollstest Du schon einen ersten Einblick finden... O:-) Ansonsten ist da natürlich auch das Internet Dein guter Freund.... viele haben Ihren U-Mbau dort dokumentiert. Für den Graupner Bleiakku (sofern er noch in Ordnung ist) brauchst Du ein Modellbauladegerät welches Blei-Akkus laden kann. Was für Daten stehen denn auf dem Akku drauf? Schöne Grüße, Holger

Having worked around Subs for several years, I am familiar with the systems required for a sub to submerge and then surface again. Communicating with the submerged model could be a challenge I am assuming....either way, lots of detail and great work. Germans are great mechanically....

Actually they did play together .. okay,..the humans up over the water did play together.. but as I did film them, I did constantly get the feeling, they also did play with me 😉👍. There is a scene in the clip, where I did film the submarine in front of me,..while behind me three or even more subs slowly gathered..like they were curious animals,..wanting to know what's happening... Vom direkten Nachbau von Jules Vern´s NAUTILUS bis hin zu ganz modernen Brennstoffzellenbooten ist alles dabei... :-) RC U-Boote sind so ein bißchen die Sonderklasse der Schiffsmodellbauer und auch nur in wenigen Gewässern zu fahren... schließlich muss der Kapitän das Boot ja von aussen sehen können :-) Hab noch einen schönen Abend, Holger von Subwaterfilm

Amazing. Impressive how detailed they are, even has Jules Verne's sub I think. Couldn't recognize the long light grey one. I think they are a bit too fast when opened up, but still very realistic if they keep the prop speed down. Among the hundreds of plastic scale models I buildt when I was a kid (in the 60s) was a small USS Skipjack SSN. I used to let that thing fill with water and push into my grandparents' pool, and it would glide along like these things totally unpowered. Love this. Thanx for posting.

Hi Saburu Sakai, thanks for your comment! I´m happy you liked it that much, that you wrote this nice comment! You are right,.. they are a bit too fast,.. I think this has to do something with the "boy in man"-thing :-) They enjoy speeding up a bit, and it´s not wrong to have a small reserve for the case of emergency... a few years ago we bought an "torpedo", a toy to play with our diving-scholars, wich reminded me strongly on your "Skipjack"-Story. It´s made from soft plastics and glides underwater from one to another... of course it´s no sub at all.. but letting it glide fascinates even the older ones of our pupils :-). Unfortunately, I don't have as near of a big wallet to build these awsome subs, nor the time to go to one of these events like the one in the video. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place so to speak.

Tyler N, Hi Tyler,.. that´s very descriptive :-) At least you have a rock and a hard place,.. sorry, just trying to cheer you up a bit,.. but you could watch all the nice model-boat-videos on the net.... okay,..sorry... I wouldn´t be able to live without staying near water. I litteraly grew up on or at least directly next to the water, I work on the water, my hobbys are conntected to water,... I wouldn´t be able to leave it for a longer period of time... You might also have a look out for r/c Ships (wich are much cheaper than subs) or land based r/c Vehicles like Crawler,... they are also very detailed and some are a pice of art.... So keep it up! Hi Kiyomi Swan, thanks a lot! The Camera is a Canon GX10 3ccd in an Light& Motion Underwater Housing. 2 Solas Lights provide the near range illumination. Yes I'm quite pleased with the image quality ;-)

Incredible collection of submarines. Even the Nautilus from the film 7000 leagues under the sea. Loved watching even though its old but its so clear. Do they or can they use these for film work and are theyexpensive to build. I am from UK and always had a fascination with submarines. My cousin served on one which i regret not doing. The only drawback is that you pretty much have to be underwater to get a good view of its performance. Maybe make the controller waterproof so the operator can stand underwater with a mask and snorkel?

Hi Ramond,.. actually I still can´t get it, that noby did build an underwater transmitter.... using the right Frequenzy it might have enough power to travel up to 6 Meters wich would make a pretty nice underwatersteering..... I would definitely enjoy it! Hmmm,... perhaps you should try to get that to some manufacturer.... I would by one :-)) Hihi.. thanks a lot, my friend... but really a nice idea! Hi Ethan, the name of the white touristic sub with all those windows is the Mesoskaph "Auguste Piccard" PX-8. Built 1964 for the Expo in Lausanne and one of the largest touristic underwater structures. Hope it helps...

Hi Dieselyeti, most of those subs are trimmed statically via watertanks inside their hulls. In addition to get a fine tuning under water they are trimmed dynamically using diveplanes, too. In most cases an electronic controls the depth to keep the boat on a specified level. Hope this answered your question?

The Captain's of the rc-submarines habe to be concentrated quite a bit, because they stand above the water surface and have to watch their boats through the little waves, the reflections and the other effects when looking into the water 😊🌊 But all of us definitely enjoy doing this...
