The passing of the torch we’ve been experiencing in MMA these past 2 years, is surreal. Nothing but respect and honor for our legends❤️⚔️

Bro you have taken the words right from my own brain. I was thinking the same thing as well. I've now lived through the passing of the torch from the pioneers, the entertainment era, and now we're officially transitioning to the "business era".

@@mhutch5082 I don’t think you’re looking big picture brotha. Izzy went from running through his division as a champion twice. To getting dominated by Strickland, submitted by DDP, and now knocked out by nassordine. Izzy’s not washed, he looked like a champion still until he got clipped. But he’s 35 years old, the reality is the Izzy era is over. He can get some money fights, but yesterday was definitely the rise of the next generation

Adesanya had his momentum when entering the UFC and went on a sky rocket journey and his activity must be appreciated fighting everyone. People don't seem to understand that fighters only have one prime and it's extremely difficult to make this happen twice. Let's not forget either that Adesanya has had 30+ amateur fights and 115 pro fights, which is extremely impressive and yet destroys the body throughout the years, and then there's so much fighting footage of him as well, which makes the new generation prepare much better than the previous generation he fought and beat.
@1986Unlimited6 күн бұрын
All excellent points. He's fought a long time. Those 30+ amateur fights and 115 pro fights all required sparring as well so his brain's taken a lot of punishment. I think if he wants to continue, he's going to have to change his fighting style. His hands have to be up to protect his face and he has to learn how to fire punches from that position. His reaction time doesn't seem to be quick enough to evade punches. He took a nasty uppercut in R1 as well.
@AwestruckAudioHertz6 күн бұрын
It's wild how little of a change in skill it takes on your own end, combined with the opposition getting just a little better is all it takes for you to completely have your career trajectory change.

yeah i dont think the sheer amount of tape on him is mentioned enough. old dogs dont often learn new tricks and once the code is cracked guys can easily game plan around his habits and weaknesses due to all the footage there is of him. his fights have been 5 rounders for years against many different styles, thats a lot of content that can be dissected

The takedown defense he showed looked really good like you can tell his strength has leveled up. His style and defense always relied on the vision and speed to be able to evade punches by centimeters… eye poke followed by a beautiful 1-2 while he tried to frame and stance switch it was perfect timing, questionable stoppage as well but he’s always 2 wins away from a title shot
@frankthetank8195 күн бұрын
I agree well said Izzy is still elite against dricus he did good and even round 1 he was winning but that eye poke messed him up if you know eye pokes and then you see him switch stances and imavov picked up and that’s why he launched forward: Izzy oooked on great shape but just a bad mistake and imavov landed it he wasn’t knocked out cold like he did Alex he was sleeping Izzy was awake and moving just got stunned

He's not washed but does he really need to keep fighting? He's super rich and that's not something every UFC fighter on a losing skid can say. What if he goes out against a top 10 guy and gets KO,d again? Gets more unnecessary brain damage. When do you reckon it's probably best to call it a day?

Adesanya should retire, he's not coming back from that. Everyone will know he's so vulnerable on the feet and his boxing defence hasn't improved, he gets beaten up by all of the top contenders.

He can box. He just relied on his reflexes, feints, and mix up striking game for a long time. He’s no longer young enough to do so. Ironically enough Anderson Silva had the same issue.
