so im new to this and didnt know i needed git to use that command. so i asked GPT-4 why the command wouldnt work and it walked me through step by step of installing git, setting the PATH like i did with python, and writing a clone script to import the librarys. all in a matter of 15 min. im amazed at how much more helpful it is than googling it. not to mention it debugged all the errors perfectly.

I do semi continuous mode… when it ask me to press “y” to affirm, I use the command “y -number” so if I put in the y -5 that means it’s the going to continue with 5 runs as if I’m pressed the “y” 5 times before it stops and ask if I want to continue

Took a bit of fiddling to get it to work, the google API was definitely the most annoying. Seems to working great now though. Great video as always. Edit: Had it running for a bit now. So, impressed with this. It even starts up gpt-3 instances to make sure it's not getting too locked into it's own processes. I think it needs more direction than I've been giving it so far, but it's very interesting to just see what it can do with only 3 goals. ---- To fix google search error when running Auto-GPT 1 go to google cloud 2 go into your app 3 click on oauth link on left 4 scroll to bottom click save and continue 5 click add or remove scopes 6 on the pop out click to the last page and tick Custom Search API 7 click update 8 save and continue till you're out That's what fixed it for me

I get it to store results and summarise in text files which is much easier than reading and copying powershell but I’ve not been able to manage to figure out how to get it to save other resources it comes across such as pdf or videos etc. the json files have details but also include the pinecone vector db data (which is very very clever). No it runs with whatever version you have an api key for. There is a very limited amount of free api key usage though. But it’s very cheap. You pay as you go for what you used. And you can set a max that you won’t go over. So I set my max at $20 for the month. I’m at about 10 cents after running it for a while. I doubt I’ll hit that unless I let it run for hours and hours. Everyone has access to gpt 3.5, you have to sign up for a waitlist for 4. I signed up last week and still don’t have access to 4 yet.

AgentGPT does spin up quick with just getting your API key in place. It should be noted that you only get 25 spins before it tells you the agent has been running too long and shuts down to save your wallet. Regardless, it works well.

Hi Matt. Loved your turorial - it's so easy, if one knows how.... I have a practical question: In my first trials, AutoGPT never finished a task (in fact I had to cut it off not to break the bank) as it spun around in circles over and over again, although I gave it a (supposedly) simple and realistic task. Now it finished for the first time and told me that everything ok, that it stored the file, committed the results to long-term memory and shut down the assistant on its own. So far, so good - but I don't find the file anywhere on my system. Do you know, where it stores or if I can assign a specific path for answers or even make it store inside a google doc? @@creamosidentidades nothing yet. Websearch on many pages fails due to "cookie-walls". Obviously, the system cannot get around this. So it spins in circles trying to access the same page over and over again - always coming back with something like "oh, they didn't tell me anything about the product you ar looking for, but here is what they say on data protection and privacy" ;-). Not the result I was looking for. I was thinking it may have to do with mandatory legal requirements in the European Union and that maybe using a VPN showing a different location to the system might help - well, sorry to say, it does not. More ideas welcome.

If I recall correctly, when it creates the file it tells you so and tells you the name of the file, which is located in one of the subfolders from where you installed AutoGPT. If I’m wrong about it telling you the file name, go thru the subfolders and look for files that date to when they were created - this is how I found it, took a minute or two, and the file name is pretty intuitive

Perfect Tutorial, most of the content creators assume that the user is aware of enviornment, simple steps like creating directory and the user is embarased asking doubts on open forums and goes into site searching for alternate content....You are like the :) Microsoft Manual Haha.... I have watched this tutorial a few times and installed and uninstalled the autogpt folder from github. But I keep getting the same error - 'no such file or directory'

i don't really know, plus it's changed since he made this video, it now looks nothing like in this video. i downloaded the zip for the latest stable release rather than hitting the download button at the top, and in the file 'env.templates' once copied (copied, keeping the original so you still have an unedited version to fall back on, rather than simply re-naming the original) and renamed it as '.env' (the file you put your API Keys in) it specifies the model as gpt-4, or gpt-3.5-turbo. the options are prefixed by a '#' remove the hash only from the option you want to be active. gpt-4 isn't available to everybody yet, so not choosing gpt-3.5-turbo might be the problem, but honestly i don't know. looking at the text file he has open in notepad it has options active that you might not necessarily have, which might cause a problem. it'd be better if he remade the video to delete this one rather than get people stuck lol

i am still getting the following error after repeating the steps through the 7 minute mark: python: can't open file "'C:\\AI\\AutoGPT\\Auto-GPT\\scripts\\main.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory" i am guessing its because my .env file looks way different than whats on the video. Anyone have this issue?

Unfortunately it keeps crashing after I entered the goals. It "thinks" for like 5 tries (based on the error message), and then shuts down. "RuntimeError("Failed to get response after 5 retries")" not sure what's going on. Edit: I started with debug mode and it seems to be a problem with the free openai key and too many calls to it or something. Guess I pass for the moment then 🤷

Never in the video and also on the GitHub page is said that it needs the paid version. Find that to be very strange but maybe that is the problem

@@zephirusvideos The debug mode ends with this message "Error: API Rate Limit Reached." That's why I assume it's a problem with the free api as it possibly limited and the paid one not. Edit: I checked the github again for this issue. You need a paid api. "For RunTime Error: Add Payment to your chat GPT account, even if you have ChatGpt Plus you need to add payment"
