Subnautica | An insane base for research the depths

Earlier, I posted a video where I showed what would happen if you try to reach the bottom in the Subnautica.
In this video, I will show the continuation of my research on this topic, for which I had to build a huge underwater base, about 8000 meters long...

You did an excellent job, there's no need to worry, as even any errors there might've been, they easily could be glossed over, and the message got across. Especially for English which has all these weird edge cases for grammar, completely ignoring how annoying trying to learn all the jargon and slang people naturally use based upon what I'll just call "dialects" as it's just different cultural regions, but the words used in various regions are similar to dialect differences in many ways. Anyways, point being, it was absolutely fine, and pronunciation was clear, it did seem like it was somewhat awkward for you, but that'll just come more naturally with practice, and so would some sort of accent for the language, which accents aren't really important unless it prevents clear pronunciation at times (although this just depends on the culture of the region, as some things get shortened in different ways, but if those shortened sections get replayed back to even native speakers without context, 9/10 times we don't understand it, so just learning clear pronunciation for everything will be great, then understanding the niche cases of shortening words) One last thing (which sorry if this seems like I'm being patronizing giving advice from experience, I'm just trying to give everything, which most of this you probably already know with how good your English is, but if you didn't know some of it hope it helps) but make sure to be using the language enough to not forget it, I had taken 10 years of Spanish and just after about 1.5 yrs of not using it I've already forgotten a large majority of things, and verbal communication is difficult, while I can get points across, that's about it. So making sure that there's some refreshers every once in a while to keep up on it is super important to maintaining a second/third/etc language. All in all though, hope you have found learning what you have of English worth while, and it was pretty good, all you are missing from being just as good as natives would be familiarity and comfortability to sound confident. (And well realistically you're already better than some natives, as our language is just a jumble of garbage thrown together xD... so well done getting to where you have)

What I find the most amusing is how ladders down vertical tubing doesn’t have any animation when climbing, nor delay. You just teleport to the top or bottom instantly. Meaning you jump like, 2000m down instantly.

This is a really cool idea! You could follow this principle to fully build a tunnel that leads all throughout the lost river all the way to the lava zone, even though it wouldn't benefit you too much as the ghost leviathans would be a big problem to the base.

Please note that, unlike below zero, when you place down a building, another does not pop up and you have to go into the building tool to get it again, so this guy’s a legend.

If memory serves (I am not entirely certain), the primary reason why you flat out lost signal of the drone is because it went beyond the limits of the games capability to render. In am earlier build, there was no safety net to teleport players. You could just keep going. Which, at the time, lead to.... interesting, player reports of the terrain and outright graphical errors. The devs implemented the aforementioned safety net to combat this as people (such as myself) aren't particularly deterred by the ghost leviathan. Now... what about the drone? Well, that's the second half of their update. If you could bypass the safety net (which is technically possible with the scanner room) you hit the second safety measure- which is just the prompt removal of the drone. You'll still 'see' the signal, but the drone is just gone. Because the game physically won't render any further.

Back when the prawn came to Xbox in the beta I jumped down on accident with it thinking I was in a different area and got down to 100,000, after a while the ground just disappeared like a flat edge through the bottom

On the note of finishing a tube with the leviathan in it, I would assume it has something similar to building a tube piece in any of the aroura wrecks which causes it to despawn/disappear as a glitch, which probably also applies to the leviathan, however they probably get respawned at a different point... (maybe this could be tested with reaper/ghost leviathans within somewhere we do know they are, and see if they get respawned, or get completely removed.

So first off, your English is great! I understood everything you were saying and your pronunciation is better than most :) With the disappearing leviathans I have a theory: something I like to do when I’m bored is see how many Reaper leviathans (sometimes Ghost too) I can spawn in one area without the game crashing. I usually do this in the safe shallows. If you spawn anything more than 50 Reaper leviathans in one spot, I have enough frames to see they explode outward in all directions at a very high speed, I believe their model even faces the direction they fly out to. Same with Ghost leviathans. I’ve noticed as well when I’m inside the main lifepod, if I spawn a large amount of ore and it collides with me, it has the potential to either spin the lifepod or my character, I can’t remember. I’ve seen many videos of players getting launched across the map after messing around with objects, so my theory is that the collision physics become erratic when too many objects are in one spot. That might be what happens when a Ghost leviathan collides inside a vertical tube, and perhaps the frames skip enough to where you can’t see it be launched away from you. Even if this happens though, no matter how far they get launched they still are locked on to you. When I would spawn hundreds of Reapers from the safe shallows they would get launched very far from me but every single one of them would make their way back to me, even if I got inside my base. Like you mention in your video, they can’t damage the base. Lastly! I once reached 14k meters by spawning a Prawn suit at around 8k meters and letting it sink down once I got inside. You should definitely try this! :) I very much enjoyed this video and I hope you continue pushing the game to its limits! It’s a fun game to break :D

I think the game just checks if you are not in a base and if your Y coordinate is lower than ~8000 meters to teleport you, a collider that big would be laggy

The reason for the lag, the base is surpassing the entity limit. I even had it when i was in Sandbox Mode just building a base down to the bottom.

Congrats on making such a seriously deep base. I went that deep years ago while officially playtesting the game with the devs during development, but never even thought about trying to build a tube ladder so deep into the void like that. Since this construction was only possible with cheats, I'm surprised you didn't use the "fastbuild" and "invisible" options. The later would have made the leviathans ignore you. Wow, that lag in the junction tubes is bad. Concerning the bugs, there are still a LOT left that haven't been corrected. I reported tons of them years ago before the game went into official release and I'm surprised to see that a good majority of them have not been fixed, which is just lazy on the devs part IMO. As for the void, there is literally nothing there, hence the name. So, you can go as deep as you like (in this case, the maximum depth of 8167), it's just black space. The Subnautica landscape is just one big free floating island.

I remember seeing somewhere In the case of Subnautica the teleport to surface code is not a collider object its an axis value check so trying to teleport or race past wont trick the game. Interesting that the check is inconsistent and slows the game when your inside a base though.

How did you build this deep, i tried and it would only allow to build up to 2000 meters before it went red ... did you use another mod?

So back when I was doing my first play through I got a bug while docking the seamoth that allowed me to walk in water. Apparently if you jump into the craters edge after this happens the safety net doesn't activate and you can go as deep as you want. Although it should be mentioned when I opened the save menu I was frozen and stopped falling and I could only get to roughly 13000 meters.

Fighting off the ghost leviathans wouldnt have worked I dont think. It spawns them at intervals until it reaches 3 then I think it maintains those 3.

i once played Subnautica together with a friend and had a bug, where i was outside of my underwater room but could just walk on the sea floor. i was not able to swim and no enemy would hurt me but there was fall damage afairc.
