I went to see Lanagan in Glasgow in 98 and after the gig I went to the front of venue and he was standing there smoking and just looking up at the building across the street I was thinking of saying hi but already shook his hand earlier an didn't want to seem weird,he looked happy,my own private Lanagan moment 🙂 still can't believe it RIP🙏🤘🤪❤️🌹

I never normally respond and I never normally ever do any kind of negative response don't like your post but he's my all-time favorite and and has been such a negative connotation that to me is so disrespectful. He was part of a whole actual genre of music and actual category was created by a sound created by him as one of the forefront core creators of that grunge. a few great bands that came from the Seattle area. It also historically can only be connected to American music. versus in comparison with some of the early rock and roll that was simultaneously coming out of Europe and America. The '90s scene of music is something also to be cherished by Americans as uniquely there own. Again lan again is one of the first on the scene. So the end of the day the point is you need to respect that, he's no "has been". He just put out an album.

Not only that, Mark Lanegan doesn't even live in the grunge glory days. Dude has released about twenty solo records of all kinds of crazy shit. Electronic, disco, blues, jazzy shit, roots music and so on. I think a "has been" would more appropriately be someone stuck replaying the hits from the glory days, regardless of how glorious they were. Metal "musicians", glam rock clowns and boy band singers come to mind when thinking about "has-beens."

I saw Screaming Trees live in '93 when they opened for Spin Doctors & Soul Asylum. I hitchiked a few 100 miles listening to Whiskey for the Holy Ghost...I like anything he sings on, but I wish we still had Screaming Trees...if ever a band deserved to be as big as Pearl Jam (who I like, sue me) it was Screaming Trees.
