Being a mobile mechanic myself in Colorado in the US it's nice to hear someone reference "time wasters" which is the same term I use to describe customers like that. People who reach out for estimates every now and then and then ghost you after you send the estimate. Leaves you wondering, was it too high? I typically will follow up with all my estimates to check back just in case they forgot to reply or were maybe waiting for other estimates from other sources. It's just strange that some people don't have the courtesy to just even say "not interested" or something similar. Those people are only somewhat frustrating compared to the people that schedule you out only to ghost you the day and time of. You're lucky he even reached out to ask for another time even if he stopped messaging after that.

I think it all comes down to today's technology, i.e., cellphone messaging, email... in the old days, it was actually talking to one another in person or via a phone call . Communication was personal and real, thus more respectful. I think this is why we have so much more hate and rude behaviors today because folks can be anonymous .

Not long out of hospital and I wanted oil and filters changed on my shogun with an oil pressure switch. Offered him my garage to use and all my tools if he wanted. Booked a day. He never turned up. Re arranged for following week never turned up and now won't even answer phone or messages. Offered him an easy job to test the water. There's 6 vehicles he could have had on his books. F**king rubbish?!

Got to watch the wheels are actually legal. Being from another model they probably aren't. Wheels and the tyres to fit them are all designed for the weight and rolling resistance of the car. Manufacturers don't just phone up Michelin or Goodyear and say send us some tyres please. They work with manufacturers to design or specify tyres to match the weight of the vehicle. This is a prime reason why tyres fail prematurely, second to incorrect inflation.

As a self employed person, your business should pay you a regular salary. All the running about and no show is a business cost and should be factored in when setting the hourly rate you business charges. Best practice is to have a standard charge for the most routine jobs, and an hourly rate for the difficult ones. But then your Accountant would have spoken about this at your first meeting.
