Often when younger, I would leave the main menu screen on of 'Thief 2: The metal age'. It was the, (un-forseen), progenitor style to the 'Steam Punk' style. It was basically just a factory 'hum' noise, with rhythmic intermissions, which made me feel safe, hiding in the corner of some coal-powered, steam-driven bowels of an engine room somewhere deep within the vast halls of some even larger fabrication complex. I would always go and hide in places as a child. A dark, quiet corner. It wasn't until later in life that I realised it was linked to trauma, but it's the comforting aspect that matters. This track gives me that vibe, as it were. I feel safe, hidden in a dark corner somewhere. The drone masking my presence and the noises are my companions within the unseen, lofty corners of this great etherial hall of metal and stone. Great job.

Thief fan enrolls to service! I loved hiding in childhood as well, hide and seek in dark with lamps was very thief-like. Got the same jump scares in real-life as in the game that way. Any chances you are at least partially introvert?

Thanks for sharing. That was interesting. I totally get it, but I would sometimes just wander around a level, stay on a pause menu or something. The games that come to mind are Castlevania 64/LOD, Kingdom Hearts 1/2, Winback, and Soul Reaver maybe? Castlvania: Lament of Innocence was pretty good too.

It reminds me of what if would like waking up in a warm basement in freezing Iowa in a cozy bed and getting ready for work while I'm hearing freight trains passing through town at high speed during a blizzard in the early morning as my Alaskan Malamutes are waking up licking my face wanting their food as my parrots wake up and say the funny things I said the night before while making my animals feel warm, loved and safe. In the meantime everybody I love or like is alive and well and the people I don't like never existed, so I never knew of them or the evils they do. Nothing makes you think back on better times than more than the blade runner ambient music genre. ❤🙏✌️ Peace to all looking for peace.

she told me that she doesn't love me. that was august 6th. said she just didn't feel the way she used to, and that she was sorry that she didn't love me as much as i love her. what the fuck am i supposed to do? I get it, im supposed to get over it and let her go and man up and all of these things, but what in the shit do i do in between all of that? I'm only thinking of her-thinking of all the things we did-the things i could have done wrong and all of the "what if" scenarios. and im aware of the fact that if it was meant to be then she would still be with me and all. I get it holy shit I understand that notion and all of these things that are supposed to help me, its what my friend has been telling me, its what i told myself a long time ago. But, now, here I am, with all of this supposed wisdom and understanding, feeling like garbage-i never thought eating would be so hard-i never thought lying down to relax would be tortuous with only my thoughts-im in denial? i just want to know an answer, i want to know why i wasn't the one, and since i wasn't given a clear one, i have just been blaming myself. and it makes sense, im not the best at so much, I've always thought I was so boring and that it was a fucking miracle that I even got with someone like her. i guess i took all of it for granted. i did-i got comfortable. i fucked up. no amount of listening and reading about philosophy and learning prepared me for this. and yeah things will get worse before they get better and all that, but those sayings don't help me. I feel like a fucking idiot, everything is dull, and even though i have my keys, wallet, glasses, phone, and all of these forget-me-nots, I feel this her-shaped hole in me that's missing. and ill never get her back. I'm aware, yet lost. so lost. time is all i have. time will be my worst, best friend for however long it takes. and i have been looking towards the option that one consider might in a situation like mine-it sits there, behind a glass case, and i know i will never break open that case, but it grows more and more enticing. it isn't worth it. im okay. i have to be.
