You may recognise the initial build up melody which featured in Tiesto - Nyana some years later, but this remix from Dennis WR is outstanding and still blows my mind with each listen. The way the main lead just opens right up without warning gets me every time. Stunning.

The problem with contemporary trance is that it doesn't let individual sounds breathe and say their story individually and in unison. It sounds cramped and doesn't evoke the feelings for which trance is known for. It sounds all over the place. Its focus has shifted to sound epic. It is in a hurry to make an impact and doesn't want pauses, silence and breaks in a track which results in the track sounding too busy. It doesn't allow for even a tiny bit of empty space and if it does so it is for creating anticipation for that "epic" sound. Such a track doesn't engage you deeply and lacks a particular appeal.

I've often wondered how many of these remixes were Tij, and how many were really his engineer Benno. Over the years I've seen Armin play piano while composing. Ive Seen Ferry do it all the time, and PVD actually plays live. But I've never seen Tiesto play. Not once in 25+ years.
