To be fair, when a crime like this makes headline national news it's not an everyday occurrence. Most of these officers are used to petty crimes and run of the mill felonies.

Yeah, that was a cheap shot. Especially towards the son. The son and the daughter did something wrong but they are still victims in my eyes. It sounds like the father hung the burden of his financial issues on his children and low-key guilted them into helping.

J.R. Wizzle For me, it was my dad that died, a moth before my 16th birthday. I went off the rails and even left home within the year. Children need their parents, both of them. I have nothing against single parents, I've been there too, but children really do devoplop more fully and completely with a stable, two parent home.

I actually feel for the father I'm a widow myself and I can tell you this it really destroys your life (spousal greif) and there's really no repairing it it always sticks to you sometimes when you get into a certain habit such as drinking or drugs it is almost uncertain to get out of it and if you do it's because either you're dead or arrested so I feel his pain he never got over the grief of his wife :(

Damn! What ever happened to the idea of getting a job to pay bills? Father was just a selfish, pitiful person to drag his children down with him. He couldn't stand the idea of being in jail, while his children were outside thriving. Criminals plan crimes, but they never get to the part about how to get away with it.

Damn... the son was already 18?? I’m really surprised he’s not in jail too! Even if he was 17, a lot of Judges would try him as an adult... at that age you’re old enough to know robbing a bank is extremely wrong... it doesn’t matter that your Dad is a coconspirator and that it was his idea!

I feel so bad for this family. The father was hurting so badly at the loss of his wife that being intoxicated was the only thing that would make him feel okay. The children were hurting badly too and I'm sure it hurt them deeply to see their father going down that path of addiction. They lost all their money and suddenly they were very poor and lost their house. Desperation makes people do things they would never dream of doing before they were desperate. It turns even the most law abiding moral people into criminals commiting crimes just to survive. It's not like they were robbing houses or people they were robbing banks who had insurance to cover any losses. It was a victimless crime essentially. I understand they must be punished for their decisions but I hope the judge shows leniency.
