Yes, but if YOU came up with a riff EVERY 9-yr old guitar student comes up with by simply practicing 5 minutes a day for a week, would you really COPYRIGHT it as YOUR invention? There should be a 12-note limit on 'plagiarism' since the 12-tone octave is a suckpool of unoriginality itself. The 12 Dead Tones have been smoking in the shed for centuries now - ready to eat!
