I went back thru older videos and a this and knew it was a game that I wanted to add to my collection. I have it ordered and cannot wait for it to arrive and to play it. I really appreciate these run throughs. They really give me a feel for the game and a chance to see if they'd be a fit for myself and the group I normally game with. Thank you so much for the great work.

Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi is the song I think you're thinking of. Wikipedia doesn't make reference to Jimmy Buffet doing the song, but does list Counting Crowes doing a version. I've played it once and I like the game and am hopefully going to get when it's more available here. Nice to see it played as a two player. I played it as a four player and it was very easy to miss some of the effects because you had four suburbs to take into account. Looks like it plays much faster with two.

When I played it we interpreted the turn phases as options. Each turn you choose between which ONE of the 4 options you would do. Made every turn go very fast!

First let me say that I have watched a lot of "rahdo runs through" videos and I love them all. They are my goto source for learning game rules. I absolutely feel lost if I buy a game on impulse and find you have not yet done a run through. This is not usually a problem though as I typically use your videos to decide what games to buy. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to you and to the sometimes visible Jen, "Hi Jen"! One thing I have noticed though is that Jen just has horrible horrible luck. I mean she never seems to be able to win "first player"! Jen, if I ever develop a board game I will make it a rule that the youngest female in the room goes first. :)

Loved the review! It really helped me see how the rules flowed through the game. There's certainly a lot to remember for each player each turn, isn't there? I'm a little sorry that you didn't get the chance to demo the Investor tokens. Thanks for showing us the game!

I have ordered a copy of this game based on your playthrough, Richard. I have heard good things about the solo game, so I am hoping to give it a try that way if my daughter does not think the game is for her.

I've had this game on my list for a while now, but now that it's at my #1, and I can afford it, it's 'out of print' (4th print coming this month). So I've been watching these videos of the game being played...constantly. Can't wait. Good videos! I like the one for 'Among the Stars' too (well, all of them really), which I should be getting this week finally :)

At 26 :28 I noticed you moved the tile to the lake. At this point in the game I have had to argue that upon resolution of adjacent tiles you do not get another $2 from the lake. I noticed that is how you played it. Is this correct?
@PauloRenato23
@PauloRenato23 5 жыл бұрын
You receive $2 for every tile adjacent to the Lake when the lake is placed. And you receive $2 every time any other tile is placed adjacent to the lake in latter turns (except for other Lake Tiles)
@walterdreedjr
@walterdreedjr 5 жыл бұрын
@@PauloRenato23 Thank you so much for your clarification. I must assume then that is the same with other tiles as well. I had a terrible experience playing this game because of some of the vagueness of the rules about step 5 of tile resolution of conditional effects of non adjacent tiles. ie: receiving payment each turn based on the resolution of non adjacent tiles each turn. I have vowed to never play this game again until I can find absolute clarification on this.
@PauloRenato23

At 11:55 you take your reputation back to -2, the rules state that "If Population gets to 0, any additional movements backwards cost $1 per Population. If the player cannot pay this fee, nothing happens to the player...he just stays on the 0 spot." It is only income that will go back to a maximum of -5.
@rahdo
@rahdo 10 жыл бұрын
but it was my reputation that went into the negatives, which is allowed by the rules... rep can go down to -5, which in turn reduces my population (which as you say can't go below zero). that happens at 13:23
@JonaBullets
@JonaBullets 10 жыл бұрын
***** Awww. Damn those language conversions on EU games! Lol. Well that is handy to know that although the population cannot go below 0, the reputation can. I will have to have a play though again. Which I might do tonight. I've played the Solo Game #1 a few times, and struggled with the Bot one. But I can't ever seem to get a score higher than 60 i think. The rules have not been very forgiving either.

would this be a good game to play with my non-gamer wife? i am looking for a new game to play with her and not sure what to get! i got dominion and she likes to play that, but dominion is not that hard to pick up.
@rahdo
@rahdo 11 жыл бұрын
i would say this is pretty easy to pick up, yeah. everything makes intuitive themeatic sense, and all the information is public knowledge, so if she has questions, she can ask you without revealing secret information (well, everyone does have secret goals, but those are very simple, and you could play without them for the first game if you want). so if she's interested in the subject matter, this could be a good choice

blah well, it is a fair point. the game really should have come 3d markers of some sort that draws the eye so that you can easily scan the table to take note of tiles that need to be considered. not really a problem with 2, but with more i can see it being an issue...
@beph13
@beph13 9 жыл бұрын
***** I guess I never really had a problem with that, either way I find it much more satisfying to build with the tangible pieces and doing the math rather than letting the app do it for me... also the digital game can have bugs and crashes with every update... and who wants to deal with that 99% of the time board games > app versions, at least that's my opinion.

@gryphon202 8 жыл бұрын
This game has quite a bit of interaction with other players. Many tiles have effects based not on *your* borough, but in all boroughs. This utterly necessitates paying attention and responding to your opponents' boards in order to play with maximum effectiveness.
