@Nef Faraj, I've witnessed it 1st hand. I worked at a restaurant, Bob Evans, from '03-'07, one day I was in the office with the general manager and assistant manager as they sorted through applications. Any black sounding name the GM said no cuz he didn't want to hire "ghetto people." The other manager and I locked eyes right after he said it and looked at each other in disbelief... Perhaps, I should've called him out, regrettably I said nothing.

This is not hard to believe. Back in college I came back home for the summer and applied for the movie theater in that same area and walking by a black lady who just walked by (she could see I was going in to apply) said she applied here before and told us he (the owner) doesn't hire black people. But I gave it a shot anyways and walked in an gave an application. The owner already came off like he wasn't interested. My mom who is a chemist with years of management experience also handed him an application as well just to test out the woman's theory to see if he was really prejudiced (the job was for the ticket booth, btw. So she was actually well over qualified) He also pretended to glance over hers and seemed uninterested. Looking at the employees in the back was a bunch of young teenagers; who were all of the same race. It was clear the owner was only looking to hire a certain race of people. And anyone black walking in there, didn't matter if you were a college student, or a chemist with 25+ years experience in management like my mother. He was going to take your application and toss it after you left. People like that make me sick.

Should have reported him
@SourStrawberrys
@SourStrawberrys 3 жыл бұрын
@@GP4288 You can't report the owner. It isn't like a franchise theater, where you can take it to headcourters. It is just a random theater that shows movies that just left the theater for $2.00. Also you have no hard proof. Them not hiring you is not proof that they are being prejudice. They can give any fake reason. They can say they just went with someone else. That is a way employers can get around descrimination laws. Simply not hiring you but giving a nonrelated reason why. The theater is out of business now anyways, so that is karma for him.

@@Bacon1155 I have determined to write you this letter to inform you of everything that has been done and discovered in this voyage of mine. On the thirty-third day after leaving Cadiz I came into the Indian Sea, where I discovered many islands inhabited by numerous people. I took possession of all of them for our most fortunate King by making public proclamation and unfurling his standard, no one making any resistance. The island called Juana, as well as the others in its neighborhood, is exceedingly fertile. It has numerous harbors on all sides, very safe and wide, above comparison with any I have ever seen. Through it flow many very broad and health-giving rivers; and there are in it numerous very lofty mountains. All these island are very beautiful, and of quite different shapes; easy to be traversed, and full of the greatest variety of trees reaching to the stars. . . . In the island, which I have said before was called Hispana, there are very lofty and beautiful mountains, great farms, groves and fields, most fertile both for cultivation and for pasturage, and well adapted for constructing buildings. The convenience of the harbors in this island, and the excellence of the rivers, in volume and salubrity, surpass human belief, unless on should see them. In it the trees, pasture-lands and fruits different much from those of Juana. Besides, this Hispana abounds in various kinds of species, gold and metals. The inhabitants . . . are all, as I said before, unprovided with any sort of iron, and they are destitute of arms, which are entirely unknown to them, and for which they are not adapted; not on account of any bodily deformity, for they are well made, but because they are timid and full of terror. . . . But when they see that they are safe, and all fear is banished, they are very guileless and honest, and very liberal of all they have. No one refuses the asker anything that he possesses; on the contrary they themselves invite us to ask for it. They manifest the greatest affection towards all of us, exchanging valuable things for trifles, content with the very least thing or nothing at all. . . . I gave them many beautiful and pleasing things, which I had brought with me, for no return whatever, in order to win their affection, and that they might become Christians and inclined to love our King and Queen and Princes and all the people of Spain; and that they might be eager to search for and gather and give to us what they abound in and we greatly need. Capitalism is no more.

Half had black sounding names, half had white sounding names. Now keep in mind these were not real resumes so all the information on qualification were similar. the ones with the black sounding names got 50% less call backs! Yes 50% less!! Now when someone can’t get a job because some people refuse to hire them because of their race and they ends up on welfare these same racists will call them lazy. They speak about “they’re lying! They’re just lazy and playing the race card” You see how some people are always there fucking with you. They won’t hire you and then when you’re struggling to find a job and end up on welfare they’ll still there to say “they’re lazy and milking the system” You create you’re own business and move into a nice area and they want you Gone from there. They will call the cops on you because “you can’t afford a house like that” every road you turn someone is constantly there trying to destroy your happiness.

And if you actually think based on the history of the people in this country from slavery to civil rights that we have been observed to be a coalition of lazy people then you are a fool. That stereotype was createed during the Jim crow error to cause disparities between black and white employment lowering the chances of blacks being hired at a substantial rate and propelling the excuse for lower wages seeing as blacks are considered not as hardworking as white. William darity actually wrote a great piece on this. Furthermore to think within the constraints of slavery how whites did nothing but force blacks to do work the idea that we can be generalized as a lazzly race is asisne. This is what happens when you don't educate yourself on topics before you comment. Neither did I ever say they mention she was lazy I was bringing light to w clear false stereotype that is perpetual in our community.

I did gymnastics so someone from my church helped me get a job when they heard about what was going on, so I was able to teach and be an gymnastics instructor at 16 I liked creating the lessons plans for the kids. Im not gonna lie tho, It's just weird it makes you question yourself alot because their's not much you can do to prove your self without a chance and part of you doesn't want to because you shouldn't have too jump extra hoops. it does a lot to yourself confidence, the question of the day is it me or something else. @BigChungus55 I never do, unless they ask specifically... I tend to mention features first.. race is too inexact these days and I was just never preoccupied with it... not saying I'm color-blind, just color-indifferent... even in the black community, we have this "light-skinned/dark-skinned" thing going on... I don't mention color at all when describing one of us, unless it is asked specifically... and again, that's open to debate, because so many people have different notions on what constitutes "light skin" or "dark skin."

Regarding changing contacts your bringing in supposition. What happened here is a direct violation of the Equality Act. The email is discoverable information. No way around. If this young lady and her mother sues she will either win or receive a settlement guaranteed.
