The archaic definition of a spinster implies that one lives a prudish, sexless life, which is wrong in Dickinson's case. She instead maintained a lifelong romantic and sexual relationship w Susan Gilbert (Susan Dickinson after she married Emily's brother) throughout her lifetime, which historians have denoted as strictly platonic for a long time because of homophobia. Luckily her letters and poems have been re-studied recently, during which process it was found that the name "Sue" was erased from hundreds of her poems and letters, lots of which are very intimate in nature. Hope ur video acknowledges this at the very least.
