Being a mechanical engineer, i came to know it is not a easy task to complete mechanical engineering successfully....lots of confusion Hard subjects like strengths of materials Kinematics of machine Dynamics of machine Heat and mass transfer etc to study But if you did your mechanical engineering honestly...and did better in that. trust me guys it will be easy & you'll enjoy data science Me as a mechanical engineer with 75% marks in 2014-2018 batch.. was Working as a product engineer in oppo mobiles ....left all and now learning data science and AI It always better to have some other domain knowledge. I personally found the curriculum a bit boring and the way processor teach us Mechanical engineering and core subjects they make it boring as if it's not already (50y/o technology and ideas still being taught) so ultimately alot of people after joining Mechanical engineering lose interest. I recently have gained interest in Data Science and I've learned enough to start off in past few months while I was at home.

LOL! Same story.. I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate with a few years of Mechanical core work experience and I have decided to switch over to Data Science. I even enrolled in a course on Simplilearn a few weeks back. Just as everyone has pointed out - "Mechanical Engineering is not a "Non-Technical" field. It has the same level of complications as Computer Science. Think about Rocket Science. That's basically Mechanical Engineering. So Mechanical Engineering is a hard-core technical field. My reason to switch over was due to my past work experience and my need to switch over to a career that is future-proof and evolving.

Hello Sir, I have been an avid follower of your videos since a long time, and have taken a lot of inspiration from your work. However, I do feel disappointed at times with the fact that you seem to be a bit biased in your approach to people from the Engineering domain. I feel you could do better if you could talk and motivate people from other backgrounds too, like the ones from Applied Mathematics (Statistics, Economics, Physics, etc.) or maybe from a different field altogether, like Biological Sciences (consider the importance of Biostatistics growing exponentially currently). Mechanical engineering can be very technical. It's a very broad field, including applied computation physics, controls engineering, etc. These are very math and programming heavy disciplines. These types of engineers are typically R&D types or analysts. I think the kind you're referring to are more like the customer facing sales type engineers.

Also pick up on mathematics relevant to data science...Don't miss on it....Then get in competition on kaggle. Also learn, end to end how to do a project. if you believe you can , you definitely can....It will certainly take time...But will open new opportunities for you. If you already have some experience in automating some tasks in your work, then it will not be that difficult for you.
