After listening to this song a few times I got curious as to what the film was that it was the theme tune of, and ended up finding it online. It's an animation called Big Fish and Begonia and it is absolutely wonderful (you can find it with English subtitles). I highly recommend you watch it and then you will understand why the song sounds as gentle and as haunting as it does. It's about life and death. Trials and sacrifice. Love and loss. Zhou Shen excellently provides this. His artistry is so important because he provides that high quality, top notch contrast to the loud, noisy, raunchy that other genres provide.
