The hardest thing when i was starting was figuring cost, i had my dad in my corner with 40 years of doing it and he sat me down and said" keep it simple stupid, stop thinking and just talk" if he wouldnt have done that i would have had to close my doors. Also, man i love these videos i wish i woild have found them 8 months ago.

A mentor is the best way to avoid costly mistakes. I wish I had found one my first go around and perhaps it wouldn’t have ended in disaster. Thanks for watching.

He said "divide by the reciprocal of that number." Where did he get the 62?

Appreciate all the great content! What is CFS?
@SuccessfulContractor2 жыл бұрын
CFS stands for computerized fence software. It’s made by a company in Billings Montana called Software Design Associates. We use it to obtain accurate material lists for every project.

@@SuccessfulContractor Thanks so much, man. We're 10 years into running our company, and it's starting to look like we've gone about things the hard way when it comes to material lists and spec sheets! Your content will likely be responsible for some big changes in our company over the next few months! Cheers to y'all!

Hey love the video so I recently started my own business making fences so according to this video I need to start advertising? Cause my phone sure is not ringing
@SuccessfulContractor3 жыл бұрын
I would definitely suggest making sure you are listed on Google maps. To do that you will need a Google my business account and a physical address. Once you verify your address you will populate on Google maps when somebody searches for fences in your area.

@@SuccessfulContractor Ok I already did that and I have gotten a few jobs from that so that definitely helps, just doesn't keep me busy enough yet I guess it also takes time to get a good name out

@@jacobfriesen1045 I don’t know how big an area you are in but another thing to do is creating a relationship with the lumber yards so they know who to send customers to. Make some entertaining TikToks of your fencing adventures and # your town or area. Try anything and everything that doesn’t cost a ton. You can also use facebook which some say works well, just don’t get carried away. Try $10 a day or so to start.

Keep it small and have it all
@SuccessfulContractor2 жыл бұрын
Too small and you stop making money the minute you take a day off. At that point you own a job. I prefer owing a company that isn’t dependent on my presence to run effectively. To me that is the real win.
