This show reminds me of The Sopranos in the way it uses silence in such a perfect way. After Josh took the call and walked off there is about 45 seconds without dialogue but so much was said.

This is the most daunted and terrifying adversary the Roys have ever taken on. An individual who can innately sense fear and hesitation and had them at his grasp the moment he met them. Hell, that was Stewie at the other end of the line, and he just reaffirming to him what he already knew. And he did all without malice and lifting a finger, all he did was make them walk. Walk a 80 year old man who didn't even took a sip of the water in the table as he so used to being served. And a son who could have stopped all this, could have mended his relationship with his father, but chose not. Succession needs more of this character, a character who isn't bought by lies, and is far more LAYERED than anyone thinks.

The more I think about Josh, the more layered he becomes. He wears like 8 layers for a reason, boys and girls. It's a DEEP character and Adrien Brody just kills it. Dude should get an Emmy from this episode alone.

This Adrien Brody character and Lukas Mattson are my two favorite characters in the series because they have power, know how to use it, and actually have some brains. They both had power over Logan, something his children never could do, which is why none of them were worthy of being his successor.
@jkta97
@jkta97 Жыл бұрын
Agreed about Josh, but it's revealed that Lukas doesn't have as much brains as everyone thinks. He doesn't code, clumsily inflated Indian user numbers, and harassed his PR person (in a way that will most likely come back to bite him in the ass). He just appears to be kind of cool and slick. He's basically like Miles Bron in "Glass Onion."

@@bencarlson4300 Mattson is still far better than the kids. He is smart enough for Logan to sell to him. Also he has all the good qualities that Shiv and Kendall have and only some of the bad ones. Mattson wasn't as spoilt as the kids. That is why he won. He fought to get where he was where the kids didn't. Mattson and Tom won in the end because they climbed up. The kids are still richer due to generational wealth and nepotism but they didn't earn it like Tom and Mattson hence their empty feeling at the end.

0:12 Logan was telling the truth, this was not one of his games. He loves Kendall, and cares about him desperately, and the instability breaks his heart - you see it in his eyes when he takes the sunglasses off (Brian Cox is an incredible actor). But, like many parents, he just cannot provide it.

Logan’s racist innuendos when saying “city boys” and “bagels,” and seeing Josh unflustered says everything about the undertones. They hate each other, but Josh has the upper hand.

On the surface level, yes. But if you deep digger, no not at all. In the end, throughout all of the events of the series, the backstabbing, the hate, the competition, and even the killing, it is the love between a father and his son. A lot of shit can happen to these two, but when the shit hits the fan, when all the money in the world burns to cinders, all that is left is family. To cite another movie, Conan The Barbarian, King Osric commenting to Conan regarding his traiterous daughter fallen to Thulsa Doom: "there comes a time, thief, when the jewels sieze to sparkle, when the gold loses it's luster, when the throne room becomes a prison. And all that is left, is a father's love for his child."

I feel like Josh has enormous respect for the alpha male that is Logan Roy and believes only Logan can keep on making Waystar prosperous and is hoping Kendall will back down and submit to Logan’s will. Josh believes the Alpha male as the boss and Kendall as the very competent executive working in unison will make him chose the Roys in the proxy battle.
Como ela fez isso? 😲
