This is Ghosty plant, and Ghost Plant is a different one, a lot of people get confused that they're one and the same, Ghost Plant has more grayish shade, and leaves shape are different. But they're both beautiful.

I got this plant a week after I moved out back in 2012 and I got it as a small little pot with just 2 decent sized florets. I kind of got it as a symbol of how I'm doing, damn near killed it in the beginning, but was able to keep it alive and now it's 11 years old, and growing well out of it's newer pot with very long stems, it's never been trimmed and I figured it could use some love now. This plant is very hardy, i really neglected it to start and had gone weeks without watering it before. But now I generally give it a good dousing once a week. It's my plant baby and I love it. I send it over to a relative's in the summer to get direct sun as I don't have a balcony or porch to put it.

I just inherited what I think is a ghost plant (Graptopetalum) from a friend who inherited it from her grandmother who is now deceased. Needless to say, it was a mess. Etiolated, dehydrated and in ends and pieces. It had obviously been neglected for some time and needed to be rescued. With Mother Nature on my side, I have made it a project. I will be busy the next couple of days trying to decide exactly how to approach it. Almost no matter what I do will be an improvement from the state it's in now. I'll come back with an agenda!

I just came across this video and really loved your video Thank you for the efforts and the time invested in making such great content. I was however wondering if you could tell me if a beheaded crown root ever especially echeveria or the chances are less?
@TaniDraws4 жыл бұрын
Just beheaded two of my echeverias (some echeverias become SO etiolated SO very quickly!), and though I felt like a monster, at least I'll be able to create a lot of new plants from it :) Thanks for the video, it was very helpful and made me feel a bit better about lopping off the tops of my echeverias.

Nice! Thanks for watching! I also have some Echeveria that stretch out a lot and others in the same light don’t. Good luck! Have fun with your newly cut succulents.
@sapphires86214 жыл бұрын
Looks like too heavy soil in there, too wet. Needs succulent/cactus soil for better drainage. Looks like it needs a lot more sun to not be so stringy. Also, the new cuttings need a little more water at the beginning to get established, and the rest of the older plant doesnt. Not really a good idea to mix them like that, is it, with watering the new cuttings will give the older ones more water and more chance to rot? Otherwise, good video, very helpful.

Interesting video! But in my humble opinion, I would rather put my beheaded plant in a new soil rather than puting it in a soil full of roots. Also, they dont have the same needs. But you've already added some new soil, which is good. 👍 I would like to see the result in a few months.

SuburbanSill i know, i was just being silly. I enjoyed your video i found an abandoned house that had an old plastic pot with a dried up ghost plant that had been stretching looking for sun and water, i took it home and have been working on it, during this process i gained interest in the little plant as i had no experience in nothing but a single bonsai tree. Then i came across your video and then here we are!! Its like destiny lol thank you

My ghost plant has been shedding all of its leaves and idk why. It's now becoming a long leafless stalk.
@SuburbanSill5 жыл бұрын
Uh oh! Do the leaves look translucent, off color, maybe a little engorged or do they look shriveled and dry...like you could crinkle them in your hand?
@SuburbanSill5 жыл бұрын
You might want to behead it and see if you can save it. What does the stem look like?
@DanielleLeonetti5 жыл бұрын
The stem looks healthy and green. The leaves tend to shrivel and then fall off after they grow
@SuburbanSill5 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, so you are losing new leaves? Or mature leaves?
@DanielleLeonetti5 жыл бұрын
I’m losing new leaves. They’ll grow to full mature leaves but never turn translucent. They start to shrivel a little after maturing and then fall off. Idk if I water too much or not enough or if it’s getting the correct amount of sunlight.

@@SuburbanSill Do you Let the water go into the leaves?
@SuburbanSill5 жыл бұрын
I try not too, but sometimes it does anyway. I use a little watering can and try to go around the base of the stems. Usually if water gets logged in between the leaves I will take a paper towel and just touch the water droplets to get them off. Works pretty slick for getting into those tighter crevasses.
