Not just Female Friday, but SWEDISH Female Friday today! Between Roxette and ABBA, you've got the most successful Swedish songstresses in the last 50 years! So sad that we lost Marie Fredriksson in 2019, she is missed. You've done this and "Listen to Your Heart", but I highly recommend "Joyride", "Dangerous", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Fading Like a Flower". The man's name is Per Gessle.

With this song Roxette reached the first number 1 on Billboard in 1989. After that they conquer the world. Per is the brain and the writer and Marie was the voice, the heart and the extraordinary performer. ❤️. She passed away in December 2020. She's always been missed.

Amber and Jay, remember something, the 80's were not all the same type of sounds in music. There are at least three sub sets, early, mid, and late but even then there are variations. Seemingly most younger people link late 80's pop sound to all the 80's. Congrats on new baby Luka.

Per Gessle on guitar , Marie Fredriksson they had a bucket load of hits in the 80s , This was their big global breakthrough hit , but probably the one where Marie wasn't in complete control of the vocals ..... Fading like a Flower , Crash Boom Bang , Listen to your Heart , It must have been love ...All big hits and used in movies too .. A really great band to get into .. Sadly Marie battled and finally succumbed to a brain tumour in 2019 aged 61 , but she sure left an awesome legacy of great songs .. Enjoy

Next you should try Fading Like A Flower or Spending My Time where Marie has the lead vocals. So listen, his name is Per Gessle and hers is Maria Fredrikson. He write most of the songs and play guitar while she manly sings and play piano. Yes, this a 80’s sounds but it’s from 1989. He plays rock because he had another band a few years before (Gyllene Tider) and that made him a Swedish legend, there he was the singer of the band. But in the songs she ”the” singer it’s often power balandes. So yes they’re a Swedish due group. They where also married to the end of her life in 2019. R.I.P Maria Fredrickson❤️

Oh, I forgot to mention Carole King, perhaps the Greatest Female Songwriter of all time. And by the way, Helen Reddy is the Lady you see on "Midnight Special" introducing artists. She passed last year within hours of Mac Davis. Mac Davis is the Man Who wrote "In The Ghetto" which Elvis made famous. Mac actually wrote "In The Ghetto" for Sammy Davis Jr, but Sammy turned it down, so Mac Davis released it himself. Later, Elvis made it his own. But, yow, don't forget about Carole King. 🤗🤗🤔😎

One of the Key Identifiers in a lot 80s Music was the Gated Snare effect that makes the snare drum sound like its in a medium to large hallway. I'm a Sound Guy and there was a trick to making the snare sound like that when they added it to the mix. Roxette, if I recall correctly, has some more songs that feature the female vocalist instead of just doing backing vocals.

I couldn't click this fast enough when I saw it in the list! Great song. However, I couldn't handle the choppiness of the audio of the song. I wonder why that happened? It was just too jarring for me, I'm really really sorry.

You need to react to their bigger hit, It Must Have Been Love. I remember that song being played to death back in the day. Also the name Roxette is the group and not the individual.

"It must have been love", "Dressed for success" and many other Roxette songs were sung by the female vocalist, the late Marie Fredericksson I think. . I watched them live in Durban and it was such a good concert but bittersweet as well with Marie clearly not in good health. It

Is the sound on the music video distorted/breaking up on purpose so it won't get blocked? Or some technical problem with the audio though you guys sound fine. I hope you weren't listing to it like that cause I can hardly stand it.

Yeah duo. Marie sings most songs. Per Gessle has written all songs. Both music and lyrics. And sings sometimes. But he quickly undestood that Marie is a much better singer than him.

Another song off this album you guys should check out is "Chances," that's one I've pretty much never seen reacted to but kind of has a spy sort of vibe to me.
