That to me was a symbolism of innocence that the two young boys had not been corrupted by the world and its greed. Antons escape is true to that sometimes bad/evil people get away with things in this world but eventually their demise will come one day too. That's the significance of the car crash at the end... Anton thinks he's something more, but in the end, he's human and can not escape his fate of death one day. Carla Jean was the only one who made Anton make a choice without the coins decision, so he broke his own morals and rules of people's fate. The coin doesn't have no say, it's just you.

@RetroClassic662 ай бұрын
Actually the original screenplay was by Tarantino, but it was heavily rewritten by Oliver Stone, along with Richard Rutowski and David Veloz, so Tarantino only got story credit for the film. Tarantino honestly has said that he hates what was done to his screenplay, which was considerably different from Stone’s final version, although admittedly Stone did an incredible job on it. I think Jay & Amber should see a few more Oliver Stone films before seeing it, though, such as SALVADOR (1986), PLATOON (1986), TALK RADIO (1988), THE DOORS (1991), and JFK (1991), before tackling such an intense and heady film as NATURAL BORN KILLERS (1994). It helps to be a bit more familiar with Stone’s intense style and especially Robert Richardson’s kaleidoscopic cinematography.

Such a genius script! Shows how the world has devolved into madness and nothing makes sense anymore. Even Lewallen dying off screen is meant to show how pointless things are now. No more black/white, good guy/bad guy; no more justice, no more sense, no more reationality, no more nobility in death, no place for people who believe in the old ways (hence the title). This is a special movie.

Great take, Amber! I had to see it multiple times to get that perspective. It's all about the idea that real life does not always have storybook endings and sometimes bad things happen to good people. When we're young we think things are so simple and clear. When we get older we realize that life is complicated and hard, and the hero/villain edit we had in our minds growing up missed some things. Glad you guys saw this film! Mitch

Llewellyn Moss isn't the main character, it's a mistake that a lot of people make. The sheriff is the main character.

I can see why you guys thought that Llewelyn was the main character of the movie. However, the actual main character of this movie was the police chief, Ed Tom Bell (played by Tommy Lee Jones). You're not alone, not too many people got that. But don't you remember how the movie started off with Ed telling one of his cop stories that happened along his career as a police officer? And he also told other stories along the way of the movie. This whole scenario that played out in this movie (with Llewelyn Moss) was just for us (the viewing audience) to see yet another sad, horrible situation for Ed to add to his cache of cop stories. And being one of the worst right before he was gonna retire from the job. The movie began with one of his stories, and ended with Ellis telling him one, to remind him he's not the only one with bad stories, yet even after that, Ed still had a somber story to tell his wife. The often harsh life of a police officer. If you watch this movie again, carefully, you will see how the movie was really about Ed, even though much of the screenplay followed the actions of Llewelyn and Chigurh. Oh, P.S.: The reason why they didn't show Llewelyn getting killed on screen, but showed Ed driving up to the aftermath of him getting murdered by the Mexicans was another way of subtly letting you know that the film was about Ed. Just so you know.

You should see him in Coal Miner's Daughter with Sissy Spacek playing Loretta Lynn (He's Dolittle Lynn).
