Cokesbury is still around and I order from them often.

They're just a retailer now though aren't they? I tried looking up any Bibles they produced (or had produced for them), and it looks like they only have one gift and award edition.

Love the NRSV. Good review. I think I have a variation of this Bible, though not in leather. My favorite store was Cokesbury in Atlanta, but they closed around 2010. They had the best Bible and book selection. Got all my Oxford NOABs there including the one I still use to this day!

They did do higher level Bibles. I have one of their genuine leather RSV editions. It is bound in a lovely burgundy red leather, and honestly it's gorgeous. It was done by Nelson in the early to mid 70s, I would say, going by the maps and the extras that are inside... They fit that era. Plus it has the chain style gilt line that honestly, I wish Nelson would bring back, because it's more distinctive than just the regular solid gilt line. Smyth sewn with paper as good as anything ive seen from the era. But the text printing is hit or miss in terms of light and dark. That's about the only bad thing I can say about it. But yes, mostly they made these low level gift Bible type things. I had one in about 1990 or '91. It was NRSV like that. But the end papers were illustrated with items from the ancient Israelite kingdom, etc. You've probably seen those on eBay. They're still floating around. A bunch of different publishers made them I think.

Thank you! I was wondering if this one was done Thomas Nelson, as it looks fairly similar in style. It looks like they're only making one edition now, and it's a gift and award edition, which is usually the entry level models.

When I lived in Nashville, I’d go to the Cokesbury book store. I believe that Cokesbury is the publisher for the United Methodist Church. 😢

I think you are correct. I agree with your sentiment as well. It's sad to see what the Methodist church has become.
