What I am making next is take the balsa-lure as a master for making a silicone-mold. Then I make a few copies (private use only !) using polyurethane, I have worked with these materials sometimes in the past with quite good results. Weighing the PU-Lures with lead possibly may become a little challenge as my balsa has a specific weight = 0,3g/cm³ and my PU=0,5g/cm³. But I am confident that it will work. Then testing the PU-Lures at pike-fishing as I am afraid to loose the balsa-lure, which is my very first balsa lure and I am very proud about it. By the way: I will use single hooks= Decoy 3/0@@SuchaJerkCustomLures

Good plan, just add mikrobaloon to the poliurethane resin, up to 10% of total weight combined (A+B), after that there might be issue with incomplete pour. Tide lines when pike fishin 🎣👋

The shape of this lure is very similar to an airfoil profile "Clark Y 20" which was one of the first profiles in aircraft construction. In the past I built some rc-airplane models with this profile, works really good. @@SuchaJerkCustomLures

The action on that was top-notch! I make topwater baits to catch bass, and what's crazy is the ugly ones do the best. What's worse is they work so well I end up losing them to fish that are too big or smart!

This one I still have, I wasn't 100% happy with the looks, but the action is spectacular, caught countless big Chub on it and also some Zander and perch 😊 I very rarely loose the lure to the fish, more often when casting on the three like an idiot 😅

It's more the satisfaction of catching on your own lures, than the money saving factor - as there isn't any 😅 obviously cost of making one lure is around 1.5-2$, but the investment in better tools, paints and lots of other sh*t never ends 😜

Have you ever tried filling your weight holes with baking soda and superglue? It'll dry extremely fast, and then you can just sand it down like wood.

It's also really hard, so it won't wear easily.

It doesn't work well with balsa lures, as you probably know SG + BK is extremely hard so during the sanding the soft balsa gets removed at the faster rate causing uneven surface. For the hardwood lures is fine 😉

Правда было бы папой зацепить его на дне 🫤 но преимущество изготовления собственных приманок в том, что еще через 3-4 часа можно сделать новую и может получиться еще успешнее 🙂 всего доброго 👋🎣
