Kabir has a journalism-filled past. He himself was a war-reporter and has served in Afghanistan. So no surprises that he tends to gravitate towards obscure, newsworthy stuff to make movies on from time to time in between the all the masala. And yours sincerely is beyond delighted that you guys talked about KK. Two thumbs way up!

I really wish 83 did more for him. What an absolute gem. Can’t forget the overwhelming collective pride I felt watching that movie in a theatre. Even chandu deserved better. I hope he continues to give us these gems!!!

Candid conversation ... Kabir khan is so real
@diaryoflola24 күн бұрын
Love this interaction, it is a delight to watch Sucharita in the interviewer's seat asking pertinent questions, complimenting and genuinely celebrating the filmmaker's contribution. Also, Kabir Khan's unfiltered responses and observations as a storyteller, pure class. He is such a gifted director. But i do want to mention what is unsettling for me, as is the case, modern, educated men who happen to be well intentioned and are normally super supportive allies to women have shown their reticence in accepting gender and feminism as terms that specifically points out the problem and probably makes space to deal with it. In cinema the over arching reason for the under-representation of women or their misrepresentation through a male gaze in "mainstream, commercial" cinema is a glaring problem, and by not acknowledging the terms I feel you do invalidate those issues to an extent. It gives more of A'll lIves matter' energy. Women are such a huge part of any society, and storytellers now must make a concerted effort to have experts like gender-sensitivity coordinators to ensure you don't use actresses as props or means to further the storyline of the heroes. One example I can think of is Tapsee Pannu's character Shabana in Baby, it was a character that had limited screen time but the character also had a purpose, her character left an impact and a left me wondering about her backstory. As an audience I am looking for that sort of accountability from filmmakers.

Great memories of watching Bajrangi Bhaijaan in theaters in Pakistan. Here's to hoping cultural trade and relations between India and Pakistan get back to how they should have always been, cordial, open instead of depriving the public of arts and cultural exchange.

Kudos to Kabir for being so honest and to you, Sucharita for always mainstreaming the right kind of conversations. Beautiful setup btw. Here for more such thoughtful, well-researched content 💯
