My favorite Scaramouche theory is the “shadow sword” theory. It’s mentioned in a quest that blacksmiths traditionally make 2 swords- the better of which is given to the person who ordered it. The one deemed not strong enough is kept by the smith. Scaramouche and Baal may have both been created for the same purpose, but Baal was deemed stronger and better. Scaramouche was kept by Celestia, put to sleep so he wouldn’t cause trouble. But for some reason, he woke up. Edit: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP CORRECTING ME IN THE REPLIES AND READ THE TIME THIS WAS POSTED. IT WAS BEFORE THE ARCHON QUEST DROPPED, JESUS

@@Crabdry Iirc it's the idea that Scaramouche is a clone of Baal, given that their color schemes and outfits both fit a similar theme. Don't know if there's a singular explanation for why he was created, but the one I've seen is that he's the latest in a long line of bodies used by Baal to retain her youth/immortality. For some reason he was deemed defective and put to sleep, but eventually woke up and joined the Fatui (from the Pale Flame lore).

Since this was made so long ago I realise it doesn't technically fit canon but honestly I feel like the four symbols still have meaning especially with the facial expressions. The blood and the gnosis is to represent like the people lost or the fact that he was willing to do whatever it took to get it. The anger at Ei for being cast out and wanting revenge showcasing his anger. His interest/ shock I guess at the empty vision could be linked to Kazuha or maybe he doesn't get visions as if he is a puppet does he truly need one? Finally the shock at the end links to me at least at either Raiden Makoto ( though i don't think he actually knew her so ) or the Raiden Shoguun Baal (aka the other puppet) because he was replaced. This was me ranting but I love the art and the portrayal of him here so much and I can't wait for him to be in game

I CAN’T STOP REPLAYING THIS, BY THE GODS- But seriously, this is an absolute masterpiece. The art- color- animation- Gkh- I just- It totally fits everything I’ve seen so far with 2.1 and Scaramouche in general; Let’s not forget Baal though, because that interpretation is amazing as well. Also, the Voice Lines are perfect for this. I don’t actually know if they’re his or not, because I wasn’t around for his initial arrival, but their tones fit so well where they have been put within this animation. TLDR; Amazing masterpiece, underrated wtf- Fact: I’ve replayed this animation at least twenty times while writing this comment and my other one.
