Holy Cow, half of the actors in this war training film eventually became famous in the movies or TV including: Richard Carlson, Stephen McNally, Donna Reed, Spring Byington, Frank Faylen, Morris Ankrum, Esther Williams, and Barry Nelson. And there were some famous old time Hollywood established actors in it too: Joe Yule (Mickey Rooney's dad) and Frank Reicher - the skipper from King Kong (1933). War is good for Hollywood.

I love all the silent extra commentary added by the various posters in the background -- the multiple 'Don't Talk' versions, plus the movie poster 'Kiss the Boys Goodbye' and the 'Someone Talked' at the end. The narrative's great, too. Thank you so much for taking the time to restore and share this!

We have grown so weak in today's society. America's wide open arms. I wouldn't doubt it for a second that we have Russian and Chinese spies actively operating in America right now undermining our society and economy. Just look at the state of our politics, economy and culture? If I wanted to undermine a nation. I would sow mistrust in it's government and create a divide of hatred and anger in it's people. Drive a wedge between the nation. We have fucking rats and spies in America and they may be deep in government, educational system, and the financial industry.

cheesy tng film but it gets the point across. When I was in basic training in the 80s, our film was basically a KGB officer saying about the same thing. I don't recall any Hollywood stars! Then the XO of our Company came in to the theater afterwards and acted all serious and read a memo stating basically the political situation had changed (LOL 5th or 6th week of boot camp) "we were going to War" and we had to form up outside....... everybody was scared and confused....... Then we marched back to our company area and went to chow LMAO

I can imagine the ending would be pretty terrifying for a US Soldier of the time. Seeing your ships destroyed, Bob Bill and Jack drowning, all because of a seemingly innocent mistake of revealing a small bit of information about when you were deploying overseas. Great drama in this, kept my attention throughout. Not a surprise then to see the actors and actresses starred in proper films later.

A lot of the major actors and filmmakers of the time served during the War, primarily making training films, documentaries, feel-good reels for the public back home, and even propaganda. We were some amazing people back then. Here’s hoping we, too, meet the challenge with honor when our time inevitably comes.

I spent 6 years in the Air Force and they CONSTANTLY harped on us about COMSEC. Just in going to the NOC Club or at a bar in town, I could pick up all sorts of information about who was going where but since I was a medic, no one thought I could put two and two together and I learned a LOT about who was going where and when. I was shocked about how no one seemed to take COMSEC seriously. I got to know a few MP's and the info they gave was absolutely amazing. I knew about 100% gate searches before even OSI was informed and when CID came into the office to tell my boss, he saw me and said he would talk to him later (looking at me) and my SA said, "Oh, so there is going to be a 100% gate search tonight." The CID weenie just couldn't understand how HE knew before CID had a chance to brief him and he never let him in on his secret. I kept him filled in on all sorts of things I gleaned just from listening to seemingly harmless chatter. And when you look back as to how EASY it was to get information out of Los Alamos and sent to the Russians and the number of highly placed moles the Russians had, it's a wonder we won at all. I am sure today it is even worse given the quality of recruits and how stupid they really are and how easily manipulated they are.
