Greene's voice breaking when she sings this is pure genius, it makes the emotions her character is going through seem far more real then if the breaks weren't there.
@fundifferent17 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure it was an accident. Just because she's a great singer doesn't mean she's perfect, stop trying to make it seem so. She did not mean to sound like that.
@StrongEnough787 жыл бұрын
Idgarad Lyracant With hours of rehearsals and numerous performances of her giving her all, it was bound to happen. But to me it still sounds beautiful. It shows the power and passion she's putting into it which NO new artists seem to know how to do anymore.

Hours before this performance she found out her father passed away. That's why there's so much emotion in it
@liam80126 жыл бұрын
Willow Harper I’m not sure where you heard that but it’s false. Ellens father sadly passed away in 1970 when she was just 19 years old. This performance was filmed in 1998 and she was in her late 40s.

@@bryanabriz508 Not originally. It started at a small off-Broadway company in 1982, the WPA Theatre, then transfered to an off-Broadway theater on 2nd Avenue, the Orpheum, where I believe it had a 5-year run. There was a Broadway production (2003, I think), but the current, extremely successful NYC revival is once again off-Broadway, at the Westside Theatre (mid-town).

F-ing insane track and for me personal one of the best tracks ever written for a musical, the song has such magical depressing build-up towards anger and happiness, this in combination with a mind-blowing performance by Ellen Greene, there's probably no-one in the world who can do better, she's here "THE" definition of a perfect character study that she puts on screen (movie) as set (stage-play). Take the time and effort to see the clip from the very 1st second and just follow the flow of Ellen till she opens all registers of her character! Mind boggling performance!

I agree strongly = one of the best-ever musical moments in stage& film, and nobody ever will compare to miss Ellen Greene.
@maggus9997 жыл бұрын
I'm not shure wether it'd dumb it down or not character-wise, but I'd prefer clearer transitions between the character's voice and Greene's magnificent one, and longer stretches of Greene. That voice shines through as amazing, but it's forced down by either the actor's or the instructor's choices concerning the character, which kind of ruins it all for me.

Since you seem to be looking for a fight, I'll not engage your ridiculous remark that you KNOW isn't true, but you LIKE confrontation. NO...billions of people think differently than I do and I still have love for them. The "idiots" are those like yourself maybe that look to make this world upsetting do that we all must be on our guard looking for criminals attacking us, lowering our standards that made this country great ONE TIME......hurting those around them and stealing, robbing lying and deceiving everyone. In other words those that simply have disdain for society and do everything their way, no matter who it hurts or disturbs. You see I'm a decorated soldier that can say what I wish even if you don't like it. Some of us fought to make this country great at one time or had you forgotten like everyone else? If this doesn't apply to you, then I'm sorry but since you didn't have ONE SINGLE KIND word to say other than attack, my guess is you don't mean any praise.
