Search no longer! Dawn, just say, Jesus I want to know you! Really know you! You will not have the problem of being silent like the majority of people have...like me. Silence is hard for the hearing. Jesus, just wants you to want Him above all. Above the deafness, above the loneliness, above the silence, above all! I am not deaf but I have suffered in ways that are only real to me. Jesus is truly all I have each day. If I did not...I just don't know where I would be, if I would even be.

Did Sue Thomas know sign language?? This language brings people together! It breaks my heart that she only seemed to want to be with hearing people. It's sad.

Yes, she did know sign language and used it when she communicated with her deaf friends. Because she was primarily oral and a lip reader, she neither fit into the hearing world or the deaf world, but considered herself a bridge between them. In her words, "a bridge is a very lonely place to be"

I worked with a deaf woman for over a decade. She was deaf since birth but spoke and read lips. She would occasionally to another deaf employee. To her is was no big deal; she was equipped to live and function well in both worlds.

My dear friend, Sue was with hearing people because those are the circumstances that God placed her into; God was the author of her life and her faith. After listening to her testimony, I'm certain that she proclaimed Christ to all, not just the hearing. Like Sue, I'm profoundly deaf, oral and I know sign language. As a result of God working in my life, I'm around hearing people a lot - and some of my closest and dearest friends are deaf.
