Braverman isn't an outlier. Always remember that when Kemi Badenoch was touting herself to be leader of the Conservatives, she openly said she wanted the UK to be more like Nigeria. And Badenoch is one of the favourites among the Conservative members. Braverman isn't trying to drag the Tories further to the right - the party membership are already there.

Not all ..I came to Germany to teach way back and stayed .I have one UK pal, the rest are German and other countries no yanks I learned German as soo as I came , got domicile and then citizenship best day of my life . There is one theory which you might like to follow up. Some psychologists have been suggesting that she suffers from a personality disorder. At its core this means that the deep-seated hatred she feels for her own heritage is then projected onto all others like her in terms of ethnic derivation. This is akin to the forms of homophobia expressed by men who deep down suspect or know that they are not exclusively straight. This is also one strategy for deflecting any possible personal criticism. No chance therefore of any abuse that one might be accused of being immigrant-loving or soft on immigration or much too tolerant of gay rights. It's a strange thing where I can understand where you're coming from, but I can also see the need for private education (I'll explain). I'm currently being educated in the private education, but the specific education/school I go to is largely filled up of neurodivergent people, because I am neurodivergent, and don't fit into the mainstream schools as they have failed me. My primary education was mainstream, and I'd love for my current school/education to be available publicly, but unfortunately, because it's set up in such a different way, it wouldn't fit the current requirements and rules for education, so it would have to conform and change into the things that didn't work for me. I strongly believe that the school and education system needs scrapping and starting again, where the newer models are set up and following other successful models (like Finland's education). I also strongly believe in it being open/publicly available, but it cannot be at the moment because models like Finland's isn't really acceptable in the UK's standard with regulations and requirements, which is incredibly sad.

As long as the UK remains a unitary state which uses FPTP for elections to the HoC, it will continue to over-represent the English Tories at the expense of everyone else. They have beaten the Labour party so comprehensively that it now largely mirrors Tory economic and social policy under Starmer. So now the two major parties read from the same right-wing handbook and are basically guaranteed safe seats regardless of voter turnout and regardless of whether they represent their constituents since FPTP can return an MP to a constituency for getting 10% of votes cast on a 30% voter turnout and claim it is representing the will of the people- truly absurd. I increasingly think, Owen, the UK might be done as a political project. The gang of weird ghouls skulking around Westminster don't represent us (their only credible alternative in Labour are currently no better), and crush any institutions that try to redress that imbalance (the devolved institutions, elected mayoralty cities etc). My situation is different from yours for sure, I'm from NI and have literally always felt somewhat alienated by the explicitly English-first-and-foremost UK identity, that alienation being at a low ebb during the 90s and 00s but accelerating dramatically since '16 and Brexit, so I'm not interested in persuading you of my point of view. I *am* interested in asking: "Since the UK seems to have systemic factors which keep giving the Establishment parties the keys to government against the wishes of the majority of voters again and again, who have no interest in moving away from FPTP or yielding any more power to the devolved institutions, what makes you hopeful that the UK as currently constituted can actually be meaningfully reformed?"

You don't have to be far right to be mindful of how many poor people you bring into your country. As a person on the left, I argue that you must have economic change and serious wealth redistribution, and massive support of social and public services in order to have the resources to deal with migration and to support the indigenous working poor. Most people aren't shocked 1st or 2nd generation immigrants in the UK or US are socially conservative but are surprised they are anti-immigrant because they literally either were immigrants themselves or can draw a direct line in living memory to the parents or grandparents as immigrants; which is weird to be anti-your family. Deeper thinking though reveals that immigrants are sold a lie immediately upon their arrival in many countries: other immigrants are coming to take your jobs. "Pull up the ladder behind you" is the motto of many immigrants sadly. Braverman is a literal buffoon because she espouses white supremacist philosophy that would see her gassed or at best expelled from the nation, all while being the literal child of immigrants who seem to have assimilated so well that she is a rapid xenophobic right winger.
