In the german original of snowwhite by the brothers Grimm, one of the dwarfs cries at snowwhites coffin and says:"She can't die, she was my sunshine". That's the connection. I think in this Rammstein video she's the only "light" in the life of those dwarfs, spoken metaphorically. She enslaves them, she punishes them, but she is all they got. She is like the sun, she burns you, she hurts you, she blinds your eyes, but she also gives life and hope.

Another great song and reaction! I think a lot of metal music is meant to be interpreted by the listener. Different songs mean different things to people, especially Rammstein songs,but watching the video for this one I got the impression it was just a combination of the old term "gold digger" referring to a self-absorbed and greedy woman and snow white. They loved her and wanted to make her happy,she was just using them to get what she wanted. At least that's how it seemed to my simplistic mind 😆

The music video has nothing to do with the lyrics. Since the song was never used for boxing, they decided against using that in the video. In the version they finally went for (thanks to Ollie), Snow White can be perceived as the sun of the dwarves. Even though she hurts them, they still get back up and want more of her. I think it fits very well, and adds another possible meaning to the lyrics, even though it was not the intended one. Then again, that is the charm of Rammstein, so many lyrics can be interpreted in different ways.

FANFACT FROM GERMANY: Rammstein's original idea for a music video for "Sonne - Sun" was the dropping of the atomic bomb "Little Boy" on Hiroshima! In a German interview, Paul Landers said that they originally wanted to denounce the cruelty and inhumanity of the nuclear weapons. The song with the video should be a criticism of all nuclear weapons. The video was to show the 6 band members as bomber crew of the B29, who in their mission dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and thus released the sunlight. This means the extreme heat and the light of the explosion. The 10 seconds counted is the time from dropping to detonation. The idea for the video was discarded because the band didn't want to attract attention with the negative press. Greetings from Berlin

Music + lyrics were originally a commissional work made for one of the 2 heavy weight boxers Klitschko (either for Vitali or for Wladimir ..I can´t recall anymore for whom of those 2 in particular) as his hymn when entering the boxring and is basically refering to a knock out. The counting from 1- 9 and then "out" refered to the boxing referee counting out a knocked down boxer (both Klitschkos mainly won their fights by knock down) The reference to "stars" refers on the one hand to the physical phenomenon of "seeing stars" when someone is fainting because of the knock down and that "star reference" leads then on the other hand to "the Sun is the brightest star of all" which is a reference to Klitschko himself That was the original intent of the song. But Klitschko´s managment refused the song (maybe the lyrics were too subtile for a boxer in their opinion but I don´t know). But because the song was way too good for the bin so Rammstein did then improvise a totally other random content based on the snowwhite fairytale for the video for releasing the song for themselves. So I wouldn´t give that much about the snowwhite content because the song was originally not made for that. By the way the melody of the chorus + the female overvoice in the chorus was then been used as piano outro for the credits of the song "Deutschland"

Related to the video that was the sadomasochism version of Snow White. Of course, the gold stands metaphorically for drugs and the sun for the intoxication in visual language. Fun fact: At first this one was to be the Intro music for one (or both) of the Klitschko brothers, the working title of the song even was "Klitschko". Their management ultimately decided against it which is why we got Sonne.

The song ́Sonne ́ was written only at the request of Vitali Klitschko, was originally intended to be called Der Boxer and serve as his marching song. However, since Klitschko's final version was too hard, the song was not used. Klitschko choosed instead the song "Hells Bells" by AC/DC. Dariusz Michalczewski was an arrogant polish Boxer, called himself ´the Tiger´ and his enema song was since then.."Eye of the Tiger" from the band "Survivor". Come on,,,,,´march in with the "Rocky" anthem,? How ridiculous, embarrassing that was´

Thank you for the great video! Rammstein dudes have access to limited knowledge apparently. To my view this clip briefly but meaningfully represents how this world works in a spiritual level. The binary tree of good and evil. Snow White is our soul, aka Penelope, Eve. The dwarfs are our 7 energy centers, harvesting to feed the soul. The soprano is the Sirens, see Odysseus. The sun is our higher self, directly linked to the soul, and has all the knowledge, calling us to try and find it. And because it is so hard, our friend and brother Jesus showed us the way but we constantly fail, another story why. That's why the clip is black and white, apart from Snow White. That's the world we live in now. Notice also the saint-like halo behind Snow White's head when she has the dwarfs in her lapalways cloudy. The world counts to ten, this is a cycle, actually the life cycle itself. But notice it never reaches number 10, see below why. And finally the apple...well it represents the desire to come and experience this world but we cannot get free as we constantly create karma, which we have to pay. How? Like @wolfgangengel4835 stated the "sun" quote from the fairytale is the connection here also the song deals with the drug topic and metaphorically describing the sensation of a drug high and depicting drug abuse leading to a fatal (or at least death-alike) overdose assumably cause a "golden shot" is an euphemism for a drug indused death by the injection of opioid (like heroin).

Rammstein videos often have nothing to do with the actual text. Lindemann wrote the lyrics for the boxers Vitali and Vladimir Klitschko and was intended to serve as the opening song for a boxing match. Because it was too hard for that, they recontextualized the video and produced it into the fairy tale of Snow White and them as dwarfs.

The confusing thing is that the lyrics doesn't have much to do with the video (it was originally dedicated to a boxer). The video itself forms a separate story that parodies the classic fairy tale Snow White. Everything is the other way around. Snow White does not serve the dwarves, but on the contrary they are her slaves (there is also a sexual subtext - spanking) She is their Dominatrix. While in the fairy tale Snow White is killed by a poisoned apple, in the video the apple brought her back to life. Snow White abuses gold - she is addicted to it. First he sniffs it and then injects it. The dwarves did not kill Snow White - she took a "golden shot" (German goldener Schuss). That's slang for a lethal dose of the drug. This is also a funny double entendre, because it really was gold. Some look for a deeper meaning and believe that it is a political metaphor. Main problem of the DDR was the Cold War anyway and that Russia was pretty much forced to keep tham as buffer against NATO fascism. Russia itself had enough problem on its own than to care for more than that and overall, as long as the Cold War existed, investment in the areas which would be devastated by US nukes alone already wasn't really worthwhile.
