Ahh finally more Epica! You want to be musically and compositionally mindblown? Try Epica - Unleashed Live at Retrospect, with full choir, full symphonic orchestra. No growling in that song but it's a absolutely stunning piece of music with a pregnant Simone singing her heart out. Gorgeous vocal melody and instrumentally complex and melodious.

Can you believe that EPICA have been around for 20 years! I discovered them 10 years ago when they were already 5 albums and 10 years into their career, I couldn't believe that I had never heard of them before, they have been my favorite band from the moment I first heard them, their catalogue of music is extremely varied, they cover such a diversity of metal and non metal styles, they are simply amazing

Not only can he turn his keyboard 360 degrees, but there is also a small platform on the keyboard stand and the whole thing is mounted to tracks, so he can slide from left to right and back on stage with the whole thing. If you do Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith you can watch him do it.
@MarcelCox12 жыл бұрын
You can actually see it in this video as well. From the public perspective, he starts on the right of the stage and at one point he moves to the left.
@matzek.32202 жыл бұрын
@@MarcelCox1 I know, but since they haven't noticed it, I thought it's worth mentioning. And CtO shows it from the perspective of a keyboard mounted camera, so it might be easier to see.

I told you couple weeks ago, EPICA is a phenomenal band :) I already suggested live version of "The Essence of Silence" below your first reaction. Maybe you can do it next? Another one, relatively simple but with a great energy is "A Phantasmic Parade (OFFICIAL EUROPEAN PRINCIPLE TOUR AFTERMOVIE)" If you'd like to hear the first Epica song, when Simone was just 19 and she used to sing differently, react to "Cry For The Moon HQ HD 4K (draft)" And then something from their 10th anniversary concert with a live orchestra and choir on stage, "Chasing The Dragon LIVE Retrospect 2013 HD"

The harsh vocals are done by founding guitarist Mark Jansen. He is the one who had previously co-founded After Forever, Floor's first band. For more EPICA, The Skeleton Key, Unchain Utopia, and Kingdom of Heaven part 3 from the Omega Alive show. Consign to Oblivion from this Zenith show, or Sancta Terra (feat Floor) from the Retrospect show.

Epica is another rabbit hole you can go down. They are more symphonic and heavier then Nightwish. The lyrics are alos great and are usually very positive and uplifting which I love. Anything from the Retrospect concert is fantastic. Sancta Terra is a fun one and has Floor guest singing with Simone. My favorites from Retrospect are Design your Universe, Chasing the Dragon, and Unleashed. More live stuff I love is Essence of Silence, and everything they have released from Omega Alive (livestream concert during pandemic). Kingdom of Heaven PT 3 is a masterpiece (and you don't need to hear PT 1 or 2, they are separate but related songs). For some lovely ballads, Rivers (music video is my favorite) and Tides of Time (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ-aZ2iqf9qUpac). The latter is a beautiful song about missing loved ones who have passed on. I believe Mark and Simone wrote after his grandmother passed.

Despite its title, this song has nothing to do with the movie. Guitarist/vocalist Mark Jansen explained the track's meaning: "The song is dealing about us humans, being caught in a matrix (an illusion) because of our excessive thinking. We have lost control over our lives and accept the illusion as 'the one reality.' But if we manage to free ourselves from those shackles and become masters of our thoughts again, we can make a huge step forward in collective consciousness and will be able to look beyond the borders of our matrix." This song is from "The Holographic Principle" album, and it is glorious ❤🔥. NWSU/Ayreonaut/Epican 🤘😎🤘.
