Rolf Sanchez is such a lovely guy and Floor does something special with his song for him. You gotta love the effort she puts in to not only sing the words but understand them and learn how to put the emotion into another language. Many people sing the odd song in another language but without that effort, just singing the words

Beste Zangers 2019 was so much fun to watch. I tuned in for Floor but became a fan of all of the singers, especially Samantha and her awesome voice. If you'd like to se something from an earlier season, I strongly recommend OG3NE from 2016. Their covers of "Clown" and "Sing" from that season have to be heard to be believed. OG3NE is a group of three Dutch sisters, an older sister and two twins, who harmonize better than anyone I've heard and are fantastic singers when on their own. One vocal coach I saw react to them says they sing with "surgical precision," and it's hard to argue with that.

Fishmaster still making you giggle! Isn't it great to see Floor in a conversation, fairly comfortable? This is for Rolf and also her South American fans :) Apart from the flower in her hair, I thought that she looked like an Olympic swimmer, about to dive in (to emotions!). Floor doing her thing, starting of quietly, Rolf already losing it. Ramping it up... Woo Hoo! "Lekker, man!" (Nice, tasty, yummy). This show is so lovely, not really a competition. (people might have got confused by Floor singing "Winner"!). Best to get out and about, if you can, variety of scenery helps.

It is not so difficult to sing a song in a different language. You learn the words phonetically. But Floor calls herself a musical nerd, so she really wants to know what the meaning of the song is, so she can put the necessary emotional icing on it. And the result is breathtaking as usual with her. Personally I am fluent in Dutch, English and German and know some French, but way to little to really understand a conversation between French people.
@noneofyerbeeswax81942 жыл бұрын
French is impossible to understand. It's basically "the Danish" of the Romance languages. I know Swedish, so written Danish is no problem, but spoken Danish is an atrocious mess of random vowels and guttural sounds, they barely open their mouth when they speak and can't be bothered to pronounce any dental consonants. French is only marginally better in this regard.

Hi dears! Nice to see you again! I did a 1-year Spanish course, so I known some words.. and now I am studying Swedish with Duo Lingo (I lived in Sweden for 3 months during my study long ago, and still have a crush on it!)… not bad for a beta, right? Jaså... Det ska inte vara för svårt för en nederländska att lära sig svenska. Vi har en bra förebild för det... om du förstår vad jag menar. :) Hon har dock en god lärare (lycklige jävel).😂 Did you understand it? I've noticed that knowing Swedish as a second language and "some" German, I can somewhat understand written Dutch. It should work the other way around too.

@@ericavantilburg6252 Correct. The teacher is Hannes, of course, and "lycklige jävel" means lucky bastard.😂 My native language is Russian, so it's not too related, except being Indo-European. Still, there are a lot of similarities between Germanic and Slavic languages.

In the Netherlands kids get to learn other languages from a very young age. That makes it much easier to learn. It normally starts from the age of 4-5 years old. It first starts with Dutch of course, but they’ll soon get English as well. At high school they will be first taught French, and later German as well. Next to English and Dutch. Some kids even get Latin and Ancient Greek too, but those children will go on and study at university. Nowadays it’s not uncommon to also have to option to drop French or German, and get Spanish or even Chinese instead. Next to all of this, we frequently listen to foreign music, and watch foreign movies and series. And only with Dutch subtitles, that’s why we pick up other languages more quickly. This could be the reason why 94% of the Dutch people claim they can comfortably speak English. And often other languages too.
@MustaLaatta2 жыл бұрын
Finnish, Swedish (not as fluent as after school), English, few word French and German. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world (Mandarin Chinese way ahead) So I'm trying to learn it. English is easiest to learn for universal use, that's why it's non-native language nr 1. Canadian English is tough slang with it doupledoubles and two-fours. But in few comments I've mentioned that I am Molson Muscle builder (favorite add to my grammary😁) and it has not passed through language barrier, even got some support to keep going. So of course I do! LOL

Do programming languages count? 😁 Well, Swedish and English, with some bits and pieces of German. I actually "knew" many more languages when I was a very little kid, but when I started to mix several languages so that basically noone could understand me, my parents decided to limit the selection a tad. Like many Swedes, I understand Norwegian quite well and, with a bit more difficulty, Danish. I'm considering learning Spanish, though. Anyway, thanks for another great reaction!

Spanish (and Finnish) are probably the easiest languages to learn phonetically, they have very straightforward and consistent pronunciation rules. The problem with singing in a language you don't understand is that you can easily swap syllables or even say words that don't make sense without noticing it. This means you need to practice a lot and memorize the lyrics really well - and this is Floor's biggest problem, she sometimes forgets the lyrics even in English (and she's so adorable in these moments :) She does make some pronunciation mistakes when singing in Spanish and Finnish, but I couldn't care less about it.

I've found Italian to be the easiest. Mandarin the hardest (and we won't even mention Navajo or Hopi :).
@noneofyerbeeswax81942 жыл бұрын
@@alanfoster6589 Italian has a phonemic distinction between the open and closed E and O sounds, not shown in writing, and no accent marks when stress is not on the penultimate syllable. It makes it harder than Spanish in the beginning, but not too much. Mandarin and other tonal languages aren't easy, that's for sure, but the native American ones are really something else... :) Of all European languages, Danish must be the worst. Insane amount of vowel qualities (something like 25-27) and total lack of articulation. "Jæuåøijå" (Jeg er ude på øen i åen). You can't understand it when spoken and you can't speak it unless you're permanently drunk.😂
@alanfoster65892 жыл бұрын
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 If you're permanently drunk, nobody cares whether your pronounciation is correct anyway. I'd always heard Hungarian was the toughest European language, but in my experience in speaking Italian and Spanish I found Italian easier (just a personal take). Some languages I've tried, like Arabic and Hindi, are fairly easy to speak. Reading them, however....
@noneofyerbeeswax81942 жыл бұрын
@@alanfoster6589 Hungarian is located in Europe and I'm sure that's what you meant, because it's not an Indo-European language and that's why it's tough. Since we're talking about phonetics, the biggest challenge with Hungarian is the phonemic vowel length. It's very uncommon in modern European languages. I tried to learn it years ago but had no use for it, so I wasn't very motivated.
