Songs from the era, when Tuomas had still been inspired by his adoration for Tarja, are just their best songs. Imo ever since the one year younger Tarja was entering his home, taking lessons from his grandma, Tarja had been Tuomas' inspiration for a couple of awesome songs of yearning. I guess, Tuomas had to gather all his courage and Emppu's encouragement back then, to ask Tarja whether or not to join his own project "Nightwish". He had been a thin, spectacled, shy introvert in his youth, not exactly the type of boy, most teenage girls are dreaming of and was "romantic, only on paper", yet he was adding one innuendo after another to his lyrics...oh dear, this time seeing himself as the frog, who was going for his princess...thanking Tony for playing the part, he wrote for himself.

P.S. Very likely Tuomas never got out of Tarja's friendzone, as she knew him as a young boy already, so her fantasies differed a lot from his.

Tony performs beast role in this act so well....and yes they all were so awesome....just keep wondering the mind of Tuomas to create this music when so young. Emppu has quite fun there....in year 2000 they were so genuine and young even though done four years already NW journey. This concert is so grand....Tuomas has cats at home and a horse I think.

As I said before, the Tarja era of NW is my favorite! The songs were magical and each member got a chance to shine! Now all anyone talks about is Floor and in my opinion she can not come close to this magic!!

Swanheart is my favorite ballad too, the version with the symphonic orchestra and choir from her Beauty & Beat tour with Mike Terrana. Tarja really shines in that version.

Thanks a lot for the reaction. I love this performance. Everyone here is great and I love the little theater between Tony and Tarja. I also never get tired of Jukka literally dancing to the drums. This whole From Wishes To Eternity concert is amazing. My favorite song from it is Elvenpath. It is the first song from their demo album and the first song I heard from Nightwish more than 20 years ago. Sonata Arctica recently released the single Dark Empath. I already have that song in my playlist. My favorite song out of nowhere is I Have A Right or Broken. Last year, I saw Sonata Arcticta for the first time at the Czech Masters of Rock festival, where Tarja also performed a day later. This year I will see Sonata Arcticta again at the Czech Metalfest, as well as Tarja, who will perform there with Marko. A few years ago, Tony and Tarja sang the Ave Maria duet at Raskast Jouluaa and he also appeared in her song Feliz Navidad (Barbuda Relief and Recovery Charity Version), which also featured Doro Pesch, Floor Jansen, Simone Simons, Sharon den Adel and others. Tony also helped Tuomas out of his depression after Tarja's departure, and during the Wishmaster period, Tony convinced Tuomas not to disband Nightwish. That's when Sami was fired from the band.

What makes you think that this song recorded with Tuomas on vocals is a demo? It's a full-fledged song that was released on first official, commercial album "Angels fall first" in 1997, which is still on sale today. Nightwish recorded first three-song demo in 1996, it's easy to find on KZbin, but this song is not there. This demo has completely acoustic sound, that's how Tuomas imagined the sound of the band at that time.

The song does appear on Nightwish’s first album Angels Fall first. That album is still available today. Although, that album was originally recorded as a demo. In a 2008 interview with Kerrang!, Tuomas Holopainen remembered: “The funny thing about Angels Fall First is that it was only supposed to be a demo to send out to record labels. But then Spinefarm heard it and thought it was perfect, so they put it out as it was with no remixing or anything. I used to be a bit embarrassed but now I can feel proud and nostalgic about those songs.

@@kentk2215 Why and what's point? After all, Nightwish had convinced Spinefarm label to sign band a year earlier. And that's thanks to acoustic Demo from '96, which they let Spinefarm's manager listen to on tour bus. Why would a music record label that is in business of finding and promoting talented bands send records to other labels when there is no idea if music will catch on with listeners? According to official biography, after the release of Angels Fall First, Spinefarm took a wait-and-see attitude to see how listeners would react to Nightwish's music. From that moment Nightwish started to winof listeners. Besides the first album, the second album was recorded only on Spinefarm. And only after release of second album, when it became clear that the guys are serious and write great songs, band started to cooperate with German label Drakkar. And initially only Nightwish singles and compilations were released on Drakkar. Tuomas himself called first album a demo, because guys were inexperienced at that time and were just finding their signature sound. For this reason Angels Fall First is not in same style and songs on it differ in sound. But this is only Tuomas' opinion, and album is a full-fledged commercial album.
