That is true but I don’t think it’s was a brutal I feel as if it was pragmatic This was needlessly cruel also take into accounts the sirens probably took the visage of women I like to think the sirens look like naked women until their lower section is severed then the fish appearance is shown while they writhe on the floor with their entrails spewing out its was prob grisly stuff
@revolrz22
@revolrz22 9 күн бұрын
@@simplysage3562 Whether or not the sirens take on the visage of human women is irrelevant to the cruelty of the situation. As to the cruelty itself: If Odysseus begged for mercy, were the sirens going to spare him? No, absolutely not. There is no question. The sirens got caught in their own game and paid the price. The Odysseus expedition has dealt with being eaten alive, crushed, transmogrified, and drowned up to this point. Athena and Poseidon both impressed upon Odysseus that mercy isn't the way to go when you're in a world of bad actors. So, killing the sirens wasn't cruelty. It was the only thing that made sense to do.

Also this is the first animatic to truly make me sympathetic for the sirens I was like "Wait no don't kill them!" for the first time seeing there faces at 4:49 I would also like to say that the fact you made all the sirens different helps with this because instead of copy paste monsters they seem kinda like different "people" in my mind as they all react differently and plead for their lives. Odysseus looks so enraged and is being a lot more violent than necessary. I love how even the crew looks uncomfortable and how terrified the sirens look. I also like that, once captured, the sirens don't behave as monsters, but as frightened sisters who just don't want to die/see each other die. Just about every Epic animatic I love has one tiny detail in it that is just so perfect. I love the way you depicted Odysseus' face when he says "more than you know." A lot of animatics for that song have in just completely go along with it, because he's bluffing the Siren. Which is a fine way to do it and not at all invalid. But you gave him a certain graveness. It isn't a bluff; "yes, I DO miss Persephone more than YOU know." It really carries the foreshadowing of the massacre. Like, "how DARE you use the image of the most important person in the world to me." Well done.

I ADORE how you made the sirens sorta sympathetic, or at least pitiable. They are terrified and hurt. They so clearly care for one another and are as human as the sailors. Just the focus on the fear in their eyes, them trying to protect one another, begging for their lives, the one shivering in shock from the physical trauma of losing her tail. It's all so visceral and amazing. This disgusts me since I hate body horror but that makes it even better for the context of showing how far Odysseus has fallen. Early Odysseus would have spared these sirens, knowing they are doing nothing more than trying to survive in this unforgiving world. But not this Ody.

Okay. Um. Pardon my French, but holy fucking shit. Never has an animatic made me curse because of how fucking amazing it is. What. That was the best animatic i have seen for these songs, without question. I’m. I am speechless right now. I want to go into everything I love about this but I think it would take an essay and i cannot put the words together at present. How. Just. How. Everyone needs to see this. You have earned a new subscriber and then some Edit: I think the brain fog of “wtfwtfwtfwtfthisisamazing” has died down enough that I can word things a little better now. First off, your art style is absolutely incredible and so perfect for telling this story. The amount of detail in this is insane. The finger snap, the transitions… What Odysseus does in the song’s lyrics is gruesome, yes, but it doesn’t really hit you - Jorge has done an amazing job and has shown it as much as he can, but there’s only so much music can do. Other animatics do a lot and are awesome, don’t get me wrong, but they show more of how I feel like Odysseus would see himself (trying to get home, doing what he has to do to survive) whereas you have shown how truly ruthless he looks to everyone around him. You’ve shown the monstrosity so much better than any other depiction I’ve seen. Grabbing the siren’s wrist, holding her down with his foot as she desperately reaches out to her friends and sisters, him and his men grabbing them by their hair. The way Odysseus throws the siren off the boat while his men just drop the sirens - the hesitancy in their faces, knowing how horrific what they’re doing is but following their orders anyway. You can see it. They’ll do what they have to do to survive, but they know this is pushing it and you’ve shown that amazingly. I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around this. The sheer brutality. The way Odysseus looks so detached and rage-filled at the same time. Nothing else depicts this so well. I really don’t think there is a better way.

There's so much to love about this animatic (like the eyes of the sirens hidden in the rocks, the physics of the hair ribbon and blood washing away), but I think my favorite is how nonchalant and physically brutal Odysseus is. He played along with this small smile, not even fully committing to it or hamming it up. And it's not like a switch flips; he yanks the ribbon out of the siren's hair, grabs her wrist, tosses her onto the deck, and explains his plans while looking tired and bored. Except at 5:05, which I just LOVE, when his front slips and he SNAPS.

Really welldone! I go with the others: what this makes great, is the perspektive. A really raging and cold as ice odi with a crew.. which not totaly gone this way down. It gives a blink of the direction, where this goes. Through mister jalapenyo is such a nice guy, we often forget.. which dark sides Odysseus has. So we mostly see him soft and full of wory and sadness. You gave something new. Nice job!

Wow this was AMAZING visual storytelling. One thing I'd yet to see in an animatic is Odysseus maiming (and killing) the original siren who pretended to be Penelope first. It's something I always personally imagined him doing to set an example for his crew, albeit in a different way than shown here, but still brought something to be that was always in my head. (Personally I imagined him cutting off her tail first, leaving her to watch her sirens be slaughtered very similarly to how Ody was forced to watch Poseidon drown his men, then throwing her in the water last at the end of the song.)

Believe me when I say this is THE MOST GRUESOME animatic of Different Beast I've watched. It genuinely made me uncomfortable, which rarely happens to me, so congrats!! :)

A fantastic animatic, I love it! A lot of animatics for Different Beast, especially, use a lot of symbology for Odysseus's "monstrous" actions towards the sirens, but you've made it all too Human and I am living for it. This man is a soldier, and someone stressed beyond belief with way too much trauma and suppressed rage. The brutality you show here, between Odysseus and the fake-Penelope isn't exactly Abnormal for people pushed too far, BUT!! The way he chooses to deal with the other sirens, the way he throws them into the water with coldness while his crewmate uncertainly, even nauseously, drops his own into the water, the way you have that crewmate flinch, the others obvious discomfort with the orders, the horror in the fake-Penelope's eyes even as she's dying, it was BEAUTIFULLY done!! And your vision for Suffering was just as well done!! The images you chose for the whole "Poseidon hypothetical no really I swear" party were so cute and unique! It looked almost like a game! And that's exactly what it was, a game, at least to Odysseus. The silhouettes you used were so beautifully well done, too, and your hands and feet movements made me hella jelly, NGL! But, I think my absolute favorite parts of the Suffering part of this animatic were all the scenes emphasizing the Distance between fake-Penelope and Odysseus. Where you couldn't quite see their faces, but it LOOKED like a smile, bc why WOULDN'T the other be smiling at them, right? It was super poetic feeling, like an actually, physical metaphor, not only of the distance between these two enemies who are trying to trick the other, but between Actual Odysseus and Penelope. And the expressions on fake-Penelope's face were so well done!! Altogether, this was a solid 12/10 animatic!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!! 🤗💕

You did an amazing job:D! The palette being almost completely black, grey and white, only the blood of the sirens being a harsh red is just such a nice touch. I loved when the backround turned red while the brutal killing of the sirens happened, it had so much character. There’s also a lot more things but that stood out to me. Great work.

this is by FAR the best execution (pun intended) of these songs!! You portrayed the BRUTALITY of Odysseus's change of heart and the way he directs his men SO FREAKING WELL!! The details of the siren's struggle and desperation to stay alive and get away from this threat really hammers in how terrifying these men on the brink have become. WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!
