I have sebhorrheic dermatitis and I think using a salicylic acid shampoo (2-3 times a week) as well as after shower scalp treatment spray (with zinc pythirocone) helps. It isn't a condition that can be cured, so I have been maintaining my condition by doing that. I've noticed that often a shampoo isn't good enough. Especially in the winter months when the weather is drier, and my scalp produces even more oil to compensate. So an in-scalp leave on spray can help work along with the shampoo to soothe the scalp for longer. Ketaconazole is very strong and causes my scalp to breakout, so I've never used it more than once. I wouldn't recommend that active ingredient if you have an especially sensitive scalp. ALSO, if you have dry damaged hair, use a good quality hair conditioner to protect your hair from the active ingredients in these shampoos. I haven't tried Selenium Sulfide, but with your recommendation, I might try it. Thanks Dr. Ingky.

My dandruff issues are all born of psoriasis that covers my entire scalp (and other areas, but those are mostly smaller spots, scalp is the worst) I have found a lot of psoriasis shampoos completely destroy my hair, but have found success over the past year or so with some sulfite and paraben-free aloe based korean shampoo, conditioner, and treatments along with a scalp brush in the shower as well as showering every other day as opposed to daily. I have found that daily showers worsen a lot of my issues, from hair to skin and what not, and that keeping my clothes and bedding clean daily is far more helpful. But yeah, after struggling with dandruff born of scalp psoriasis for nearly 3 decades, I have finally found success that doesn’t come at the expense of my hair in 3 main things: good in shower hair products, a scalp brush, and not overdoing it by washing every day. It took a few months to really see the effects in a meaningful way, but it’s been nearly a year and I almost never have any dandruff at that point!

I thought I had dandruff when my scalp have small white flakes. But it would only come when I used a wrong shampoo and had to suffer it until I change my shampoo for a milder kind. That was when I realized that sensitive scalp also caused flakes. I am now using a Korean brand Grafen that does not have dyes, silicone and preservatives. 😊

You are giving excellent advice and suggestion. I appreciate your work. I am having an oily scalp, as a result dandruff for more than 20 years still , after using specific shampoo, clean pillows cover, comb, separate comb. Once i stop using the anti dandruff shampoo Nizerol , it’s back again. I am just fed up.

i have the same issue, my dr prescribed me steroidic drops to put on the scalp and it helped me alot to completly get rid of it (not permenantly), as long as im using the drops. its not recommended to be exposed to the sun after you use steroids so be careful. i tried many shampoos and masks over the years and the good old "head & shoulders ", the type with argan oil (the others just irritated my skin, specialy the mint one) was helpful more then any other medical shampoo i ever used. it dosent help you to prevent the condition but it helps to remove the dead skin that is stuck on your scalp, at least for me

How but head acne ?
@prasanahmanoharan90032 жыл бұрын
For me i used a salicylic acid based product (ex: cosrx blackhead power liquid) on the pimple then i rubbed it in, let it sit anywhere from 10 mins to overnight then i wash and style it like usual, a gentle scalp scrub w fine scrubbing particles can help to control the acne from forming as well but be careful not to scrub over existing active acne
