Noice! 'Sup, stinky boi! Misty Woods and Forlorn Ruins are probably the most gimicky areas. As you saw, the woods change at key points in progress and only solidify into a straight shot once you've placed Atsu's Torch. The ruins, on the other hand have the vessel you must carry to stick to hot, orange surfaces. If you let go of the vessel, you have more movement, but you can't flip gravity and the orange hurts. When you're carrying it, gravity will suck to whichever direction the last surface you stood on is facing. I know it's confusing, but you got this smelly!

Something that would’ve been helpful: If you stomp you can get rid of the bits of slime on the ground that were giving you such a hard time (not sure if you have to upgrade stomp to do this but it is possible) (It also does a lot of damage and sends projectiles in the opposite direction)

Do it! You'll love it, both games are great. Don't let the slow start fool you though, the first hour of the game kind of sucks and I lost interest on my first try. Had the game for a year before I finally got bored enough to give it a chance. There were several areas that frustrated me to the point of rage quitting for a day or two but they were fun games.

A tip for those slugs in the misty woods and some (not all) future ones that might come up: their projectiles can't damage you when they're in the air, only when they land on a surface and become spike balls

Oof, this area gave me so much trouble. You have to work with the gravity of the wall your on, and sling yourself to the next glowing square. Think of it like--a magnet, or a planetoid from mario galaxy.

i suggest trying to use the pound (if you have it) for more damage because it does quite a bit and can deflect projectiles

I'm playing it through on Hard Mode right now and it's a real B for sure. Enemies take so many hits but usually only takes one for Ori to die. I'm up to Mount Horu now. I remember how hard it was on normal mode, not really looking forward to it.
