Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said authorities have gathered a lot of evidence after a two-week-long search at the home of Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Gilgo Beach murders. Tierney also said dogs located a number of electronic devices at the residence.

I'll add my thoughts...he wouldn't have abused them for fear of being reported. He showed his "good side" to his family, friends, co-workers. His "dark side"....well, you know. I have watched many shows on serial killers and they are very good at hiding what they do in their spare time. That's how they get away with it for so long. The point is that he had arranged to meet each of the murder victims just before they went missing. That doesn’t mean he killed them, it’s just more incriminating evidence. Rex may be guilty, but that's unrelated (as far as they have released so far) to him owning "a lot of guns" - I'm rather tired of the media implying that someone with "a lot of guns" is by default a criminal. Sounds like he was a gun collector and stored them in a vault.. Also, at lot has been made on the "large number" of "weapons" in the vault. How many were real operating guns and how many are collectors items, not usable? That might be a reason some were not "registered" in NY - because they are only valuable as antiques. That's responsible gun ownership. Owning a gun is not a crime.
@rayray8687
@rayray8687 Жыл бұрын
No one to my knowledge has suggested guns had anything to do with the murders. In fact quite the opposite, all the victims were determined to have been strangled. The guns were simply observed being removed from the house, 200-300 in all which I think anyone would find curious. It would be nonsensical to expect reporters not to mention it.

Having a few guns doesn’t seem like big deal but having more guns than most police departments is extremely scary when the owner is a murderer. If it were not for the fact that the guy had no qualms in snuffing out multiple lives for his own enjoyment maybe it wouldn’t be expected give even the most ardent gun enthusiast pause.

This is a special case though. These murders were not solved because they were used for the ego games and corruption of high ranking former officials (the DA, police commissioner and police chief). It’s because of the history of the case. Look into the Suffolk County DA, James Burke, and corruption. The current admin admits to it. There is no reason why it took over a decade for this to be solved. They had the cell phone data and eyewitness testimony back then. A diligent officer reinterviewed the eyewitness who provided a description of the killer and his pickup truck recently. They’re not yapping, but they are serving the public which the former administration failed to do.

How TF does law enforcement/FBI get away with DESTROYING INNOCENT PEOPLES PROPERTY WITHOUT HAVING TO REPAIR OR REPLACE IT? Haven’t these people (The wife and children, one of which is mentally handicapped/disabled) been punished enough WITHOUT LE adding INSULT TO INJURY? Plus I want to know why they’re allowed to do that? I was always taught, YOU LEAVE THINGS THE WAY YOU FIND THEM (or better if possible). They could’ve just as easily searched and obtained what they wanted/needed WITHOUT DESTROYING THEIR HOME. The LEAST they can do is PAY TO REPAIR IT. What they SHOULD do is, have a crew that comes it and cleans up after they’re done if they can’t do a search in an organized and orderly manner. Kind of like when they have crews that come in to clean up Murder scenes etc. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

Her name is "Maureen Brainard-Barnes" NOT "Maureen Barnes" as the newscaster announced. The DA was clearly respectful to the deceased & her family, correctly stating many times the victim's names. Her maiden name was apparently important enough to Ms. Brainard-Barnes that she felt compelled to hyphenate her maiden & married names. What gives this newscaster the chutzpah to change a deceased person's name? His intentional mispronunciation of her name was very rude & was disrespectful to both the deceased & her family.

Think the word 'powerful' was important. Sounds like they have what they need to convict this guy. And what he noted about the dogs could very well mean that they found electronic evidence....maybe a computer where he searched these girls or what/how to do what he did...and maybe then (after the fact) tried to discard that evidence by burying deep in the ground. Just a thought. For him to mention the dogs and there ability to detect electronic information, IMO, wasn't shared for the heck of it.
